Thanks Jan for the info on the price. I hope we can get a deal like yours. We are going to start at $42,000 but we will be financing the unit not paying cash...we want the tax deduction. We have no trade-in, so that will not be an issue. Our friends and us will be going together and we will be purchasing two identical units so I hope we can get a good price. We go tonight to the show so wish us luck!

Thanks Dave for the info on the shipping charge to the west cost. That info will be another tool for negotiating tonight

Karl

Well the 4 of us went to the RV show and sat down with the dealer. Just as we sat down the computer connection went down so they were not able to give us good numbers, but we were given a price of $47,995 each for the 3400RL. We reminded them that we (our friends and us) wanted a rig each so we were talking two units and that we were thinking more like $43,000. We were told no way, but that they would give us a call the next day when the computer came back up and give us a better price. So we gave them our phone numbers and walked. The next day our friends received a call and a quote of $46,799. My wife and I had to go out of town this weekend and our friends received another call from the dealer asking if we all had a chance to talk about the price yet? Our friends told them that we were out of town and that we wouldn't be able to talk until Sunday.

We still think feel the price it too high. We feel that we should get them for $45,000 each. What do you guys feel? We also need a hitch and the dealer wanted to sell us a 16K hitch for $1000. We wanted an 18K hitch with a 4 way pivoting head. We wanted the Mor/Ryde pin box and were told that they were not a Keystone option. Rich... didn't your unit come with a Mor/Ryde pin box from the manufacture? Do you guys recommend the mor/Ryde pix box over the air hitch, or do you recommend the air hitch? What is the cost for each (Pin box and air hitch)?

The Mor -Ryde hitch pin is not a Montana option. Our Dealer bought and installed it for us. Got both the Mor ryde and 16K hitch 4 way pivot head installed for less than 1k each but then you are on the west coast..different world. Does that price 46,799 include transportation and "prep charges" Transport charges to your location are high ,As mentioned before, our dealer, and we were right there, could not find a transport company that would deliver to the west coast for less that 1.50 per mile. There are some folks here that transport perhaps they can yes/ no that.. If that is a out the door price, excluding tax..it may not be a bad price considering transport charges . You are doing good..

Considering the transport charges from Goshen.. You are 2290 miles from Goshen, even at 1.00 per mile that is 2290.00 in transport charges and I think that is low but the dealer has to include that in the cost of the camper. That 46,799 camper at my dealer in Ohio would cost me 44,509...not a bad price.I think all things in consideration you are close.Perhaps you are at the "I've only got say 45K to spend, I got no more, I will sign the contract for 45K right now , Today"....??? That has worked for me...

Karl - Don't know if you had a chance to read my PM but you might want to call Lloyd or Dale at D&L RV in Wenatchee. When I was pricing units last summer they had the best price in Washington state for the model we were looking for. Pretty sure they'll give you a price over the phone. Don't know about the hitch and pin box but for what its worth I just had Clear Creek in Silverdale install my hitch. They also handled the warranty work on a previously owned Cougar and Montana for me. Saved me some trips over the bridge.
Good luck.
Hank

Fire5er,
Remember the Spokane RV show is coming up, the 18th - 22nd. Blue Crick will be there, I bought 2 rigs from them. They beat the Seattle prices by a few thousand... Might be worth the drive over....

We purchased our Montana from D&L in Wenatchee and got a very good price (I hope). As we are now looking at the Big Sky I sent an email to D&L and also to Blue Crick RV in Spokane and got a quick response for D&L but never heard back from Blue Crick. Very interesting as I have been trying to see if there will be a Big Sky in the Spokane RV show. D&L has been great with fixing the problems that we have had, just a call and Eric says bring it in and we will fix it.

Well it looks like we are going to be getting the 3400RL for $45800. It’s not a great deal, more like the everyday deal. We are getting the unit with the Value Package, Moving to Montana Package, Customer Convenience Group, and the following options: Aluminum wheels, Hi-gloss gel coated fiberglass exterior, exterior shower, 27” LCD TV, Free standing dinette w/4 chairs, Air mattress hide-a-bed, King size bed, End table and lamp, Hi-back desk chair, Wired & framed for 2nd A/C, Ceiling fan, Washer/Dryer prep, Arctic insulation package, Hydraulic selector switch, Central vacuum, Electric fireplace, and Neo-Angle shower. Dealer is providing 2nd 12v battery, and other items in a PDI kit.

Thanks guys for all the advice. To you on the east side of the state, we didn’t want to have to go to the east side to put together a deal if at all possible. We look forward to sealing the deal and waiting for out units to be built. We will be asking the dealer to wait until March to send the order in for build, as we do not want to take deliver of the units until May or June.

Karl, glad to see that you have finally made it come true. I assume that you are getting it from Tacoma (Ladonna)? We used to live in PO and still have some good friends there. My wife's brother is the preacher at the United Methodist Church in Colby so we get over there once a year. Great town.

Are you sure you can hold off until this summer. Hope to see you on the road some day.

Just my opinion but i think you did very well..that is a nicely equipped 3400 and there is a lot of transport charge in that price and several new upgrades. Not bad at all.

Congratulation, Sounds like you got yourself a good deal on a great unit. With the new add ons they have and price increases it sound like a very good price.

Karl, can I assume that your price is with out our great State sales tax? Did you get a price for the delivery. Just wondering what they charge in Tacoma.

Thanks,

Thanks for all your words of encouragement. It’s because of this site, and watching what guys (Rich, Dave, Jim, etc...) have said and done the last few years that have helped us through the purchasing phase.

Now we have the long wait, all be it self imposed, as we did not want to take delivery until May. We have already built our PDI (16 pages) from what you all have said and done, but will continue to tweak it until the PDI date.

Thanks again!! An Dick & Jackie I hope we can meet some day on the road or at a camp site.
