Kathi, that is wonderful news. Yes, prayer works wonders and isn't it great that Paul has a P/T lady with enough compassion to do that for the both of you. Please keep this great news coming. Your posts and Pauls progress have been a true blessing to me. I read this forum everyday and it helps lift my spirits in this dreadful place. I have to go now,, I am getting all misty...
God Bless you all and keep the Faith

Wonderful news Kathi. Claudia's step father suffered a massive stroke 4 years ago and wasn't expected to make it through the night. He was placed in a care facility for a month, then we moved him back home and he's doing extremely well now considering his age. He looks forward to going out to dinner, drives to the coast, camping with us occasionally, and looking forward to his 89th birthday party this month.

Searchers, that is a wonderful accomplishment for him. Did you say he is still driving? God Bless him. I know the feeling, I spent a month in Casa Colina in Pomona Ca. for 1 month. That was after I spent 2 weeks in ICU. They told me I wouldn't make it either. Guess we fooled them didn't we. It takes a lot of very hard work. But if you push yourself you can get back almost to the place you were before your stroke. That is what I keep telling Paul. I keep reminding him how hard it was for me to get to where I am. I tell him he can do it also. He is really trying very hard. I am so proud of how far he has come. God has really blessed both of us and we know it. We hope to be at Lake Siskiyou this May. We have reservations so hopefully we can all meet at that time. Kathi

No Kathi, he doesn't drive anymore. I should have said he likes to take rides to the coast. Like all of your other MOC friends, we too continue to pray for Paul's complete recovery and look forward to meeting you both at the rally.

They had a meeting in regards to Paul's progress and decided that they will be coming to our home on Friday for an evaluation. Our house is already set up for me so he doesn't need anything else. Should go very smoothly. Then possibly, they might let him come home on Monday and have outpatient therapy. They have suggested that we have a home care person come and take care of him for about a month and then wean him slowly. He is really looking forward to being able to get home. I told him that the buck doesn't stop there, he will continue to need therapy. He said he didn't care as long as he gets out of that place and gets some decent food!!!I have to agree with him. I felt the same way when I was in.

Good news. Be careful about your insurance coverage for outpatient PT. No one told us after Roy had been in the hospital for one month (!!) with Guillain-Barre, that our outpatient physical therapy coverage had a limit. He needed more therapy than he actually got. If he had stayed in the hospital it would have been covered. Hopefully your coverage is better than that. Being at home, however, does more for recovery than anything!
