Generators

Okay gentlemen I know that there has been alot of generator talk lately and I have been reading it all with interest. So just one more question. Has anybody compared the eu2000 Honda to the new ef 2400is Yamaha. They now have the same type of system as the hondas do where you can hook 2 of them together. I like the hondas the best I think but this new Yamaha has a little more power than the honda does. Thanks Al

They look nice but the Yamaha EF2400iS weighs 70 lbs. the Honda EU2000 is a little over 43 lbs.

There is another one to look at and it is the McCullock FG2000TC. It specs are identical to the Honda EU2000 and it is about half the price. Weight is 44lbs and noise level specs are identical to the Honda.

Does it give voltage with a pure sine wave?

Orv - It has converter digital technology for sine-wave computer applications like the Honda. The distributor is in Colorado and the address is www.toolking.com. They sell them for $469.00 plus $25.00 shipping in the US. You can purchase them on eBay.

Jim,
The price is fantastic! But with that sort of price difference there has to be some MAJOR feature difference as well! I'd be very leery of expecting the same type of performance as I would from a Honda or Yamaha. But I know no one who has any experience with the McCullock.

Before you buy make sure you actually hear and see one at work.

Good luck.

Dsprick and HamRad - I have heard them and seen them work. I will let you know how it works when we get it in the next few days or probably after Christmas.

Thanks, Jim. I would look forward to your usage report. Do you know how long have these around? It would be great if we could get a report from someone who also had used one (or two) for 6 mos to a year.

It really does look like a Kipor so really make sure there are service facilities that can get parts for these.
The Kipor specs out identicle to a Honda and a Honda dealer I talked to showed me some literature from Honda that accuses some Chinese brands of copying Honda technology and using inferior parts and not having any parts and service network available.
Kipor is trying to establish itself in USA and maybe they have started marketing them under the Mc Cullick name.

I know someone who has a Kipor and is having trouble finding a dealer to service it.
If you have to mail them back to your retailer when you have a problem it can get very expensive. Ask for a list of dealers that can fix your Generator because the Honda guy told me they are not allowed to work on these Chinese Honda Clones and one of the larger Kipor dealers on the Internet has just stopped selling Kippors for legal reasons. Be very careful.
