Moved 5th fireplace into our home

Last spring I installed an electric fireplace in our 5th wheel.
I have now moved the fireplace insert into our Az home.
I made a cabinet to fit the fireplace insert and a shelf for the VCR and satelite receiver. The TV sets on the top.
We can now enjoy our fireplace year-round.
Photos are on the link below.

Looks great Sunseekers. Been thinking about adding one to the Monty and your pics make it very tempting.

We just added an electric fireplace on our 2980RL. Installed is in that shallow cabinet under the "computer desk" and drilled a hole to connect the power cord above into the computer area. It is an 18" one and kicks out 1350 Watts. Got it at a local home improvement store and it works great. Just finished it today so I don't have any pictures. My wife is trying to figure out the digital technology.

Hi Jim, we also have a 2980RL, but it's a 2005 and want to add a fire place in the same spot. We want to purchase one and use it in the stick-built during the colder months.

Can you please share the make and model and where you purchased it with us? Did you have to do any enlargement of the area you installed it in?

Thanks for any help,

Below is my (Sunseekers) orginal posting April 19, 2005 with some information that might be of help to you.

"After a lot of measuring and looking for the right size,
I purchased a Dimplex Model DF12309 includes remote on/off,
1440 watt heater/4800BTU for under $300
www.electricfireplaces.com

We just love the looks of the fireplace and the flame looks so real!

To view slides of fireplace - go to picturetrail below.

To answer the question about heat protection.
The heat comes from the front top of the unit.
Only the top front 1" ridge get hot to touch. No heat anywhere else.
There is 8-10" of air space from top of fireplace to above shelf
and the top board you see does not touch the top of the fireplace.

The fireplace can be taken out without touching anything.
We plan to use the fireplace year around - 5th & home."
