Chopstyx, you're no doubt right it would make a big difference but for almost three years the single AC did a good job in this same Montana in the same area of the country. So I'd first like to get this working right. If it used to work good then it should be able to do so again. I'm reluctant to add a second AC if we don't really need it for the way we use our Montana because so many parks charge extra for a second AC. If it ends up we need it, then that's a different matter. Thanks for the suggestion, though. We do have the 2nd AC prep so that part's already in place.

Steve have you tried going on the roof and cleaning the fins?? They could be full of poplar fuzz and other debris that gets sucked into the fin area. Usually you don`t need a recharge unless you are leaking freon. Cleaning the filter inside also helps but I`m sure you have already done that. I leave the fan on ON all the time in hot weather. A friend is a heating and cooling specialist and he says to do that also in your stick house. As it is more efficeint to run the fan especially during hot weather as we are experiencing in the midwest right now.

Mark, yesterday I pulled the cover off the rooftop unit. The fins are straight and clean. No debris that I could see at all. I was surprised the entire unit was not filthy after three years. There was a light coat of dust. What I think is probably the squirrel cage cover had a film of dirt on it that mostly wiped off with a rag. But otherwise it looked good in there.

Thanks for the tip, though. As I think about it I think last year we kept the thermostat on 77 and maybe didn't notice a couple of degrees rise. This year it's on 75 and we notice four to six degrees rise. I don't yet have a thermometer to check actual air temperature at the vents but that's on my list to do.
