Anyone notice the Bighorn?

There is an article on the Bighorn in Trailer Life and it sure looks a lot like our Montana even the decals. It is built by Heartland. We never heard of them before. Anyone else see this? I hope Keystone looks at it because it has a couple of things they should consider. I liked the cabinet pull-out and the seat in the shower.

Yes we noticed that also. At first glance I thought it was a Montana and was surprised because TL never features the Keystone line. Probably because Keystone does not advertise in TL. I liked the seat in the shower also. Wouldn't be hard to do, just make the "foot rest" a little larger.
Happy trails...................

I just took at look at their site: http://www.heartlandrvs.com

Interesting...they seem to be targetting Montana and Cambridge. In fact, the 3400RL floorplan (same designation for both Montana and Heartland) is almost exactly the same. Their other floorplans do have differences though. The Landmark has almost all of the same features as the Cambridge, even including the flat storage area and the reduced belly clearance that the Cambridge has.
The Bighorn includes standard the "Universal docking center" which is similar to the Cambridge exterior hookups and controls. But, they use Al-Ko axles.
The other big thing to note is that they are targeting short bed pickup trucks with their specialized front cap.

I do like the fact that Heartland has some diagrams for their A/V stuff: http://www.heartlandrvs.com/LMtech_diag.html

I'd like to look at one to see the fit and finish up close, but I think I'd still stick with the Montana.

The landmark is designed for the fulltimer as is the Cambridge and will have the price tag to go with that. The Bighorn sounds good and their PR sounds good however they are in Elkhart and draw from the same labor pool as most of the Rv 's manufactured and unless their corporate policy on "workmanship" is radically different from the others(doubtfull) the Bighorn will be no better than the others. i picked the Montana because I think that everything considered it is the Best bang for my buck. The final determining factor was keystones track record on Customer satisfaction..When it breaks they will fix it. I think they are number one in that area. I stay with Montana....

I saw that and was struck by how much the exterior resembled Montanas. I suppose imitation Is the sincerest form of flattery…

We just looked at 2 different models of Landmark (just pokin' around you know). They were beautiful and huge!! We didn't scutinize them, but they looked like they were finished off nicely, especially the galley area. Had the Mor-Ryde hitch. The bigger one of the 2 looked like you would need a medium duty truck to haul it. Too much rig for us. We came home to our 2955 and we're still happy.

In no way did I mean to imply I would trade my Montana for it! I was just curious if anyone else had noticed the close resemblance. We are happy with our Montana.

They look nice, but the smallest Bighorn was 34'7" or so, that's about 2' longer than our 2980, and that's about as long as I want to pull for now. They sure do look like a Monty. And all that stuff about turning radius, Monty's come pretty close. Look at the rounded front cap and the angled bottom.

We get trailer life to but didn't see that article. What month is it in. I did look at the website and from what I can see their 3600RL is our 3400RL. I wouldn't trade ours for the world. I love it and I looked for 5 years. There isn't anything out there that can even compare to Montana. Believe me. I think they have been reading our Montanaowners website and picked up alot of the things they have done to the Bighorn from our posts. Still it isn't a Montana. RIGHT GUYS! Paul and Kathi

I believe the blurb about the Bighorn was in the July '05 issue.

Bill is right - it is July's issue. I thought the comment about the front closet being deeper was interesting. Personally I would rather have those inches in the living space than in the closet. The 3400 has plenty of storage space without taking more away from the living space.
I'll take my Montana - a proven best.
Happy trails......................
