I always unplug and the Ford built in brake control has a big display if you are not connected.

I've always left ours connected when not unhitching even those we usually connect to electric and water. I've never seen a problem from this. Ours has a diode, I think, to keep the park's power from getting to the truck. The truck has the diode, that is.

Since GM's keep outputting until the battery gets to a low danger point, I don't think it would hurt to keep the truck plugged in. Our truck has two batteries and we assume one feeds the Monty so if it goes dead, the truck will still start.

We always stay hooked up. Used top have a class "A" and that's how they work regardless. Whatever you do, use the old checklist before starting out. Remember "J CHEWS ASS"

I parked my truck with the trailer umbilical wire hooked up for two weeks not thinking about the Prodigy display. It sucked the life out of both truck batteries.

We often leave the rig hooked up and plugged into shore power. So far no ill effects have been noted.

Sue, diesels have two batteries, mine too. One is not dedicated to feeding the trailer line. It's needed to run the truck. I'm not sure why two batteries are needed, however. Probably something with getting that engine started?

We always unplug!!
Reason for two batteries is the high compression of the engine. Need them and the geared starter to turn that big hummer over and get it started!!

Well, see you learn something everyday. Our previous truck (gas) had 2 batteries, one fed the trailer, so we assumed it was the same. Thanks for the info. Anyway we unplug the truck when we plug into shore power but we did forget once and nothing happened.
Happy trails......................

This past fall had a fellow RV'r tailgating with us. I moved my truck to the back of the 5er and started up my generators to power my rig. He left his umbilical plugged in to his new 06 F250 and ran TV, Satellite, etc., off inverter(s). After the game went to start up his truck and both batteries dead!! Wouldn't even light the inside cab lights. So, being smart as we are, we hooked one of my Honda E2000s up to his trailer to get lights, etc.. Well, a little over $1000 later he had his truck back - seems when we started the gen, the inverter 'inverted' and cooked circuitry in his alternator. We are still friends but he unhooks his unit from his truck now - he also bought a Yamaha 2800 (I believe that is the model number) that he uses to power his mountaineer now.
