Newbie Saga Day 4
Even very long weekends come to an end, today was the day. The RV Park looked like there was an evacuation going on by 10 AM. When we pulled out at 11:30 the Parks was 1/2 to 3/4 empty.
Today was clear and 62 but there was a head wind the whole way home. Nothing affects the Monster truck so the ride home was great; the Montana followed along like it wasn't even there.
The MPG going down was 11.6 and coming back it was 9.6 going 65 MPH both ways. My truck doesn't have 4,000 miles on it yet but I hope the the mileage improves dramatically once it is broken in.
Can't wait for the next trip with the Montana!

Grant & Kathy,
Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! The hardest part about RV'ing is the trip home. Hope you are able to get your coach back on the road soon. Your mileage should increase as you get some miles on that Duramax!

Grant & Kathy, glad to here you had a great experience and don't be concerned about the MPG.
You'll need upwards of 25,000 miles before you'll notice an increase but it will come. After 25'000 it will only get better. I now have 30,000 on my 05 and it is is doing much better than when I only had 4,000 and by the time a I get 40,000 I should be up 14 MPG towing and 22 to 24 MPG empty. At least that was they way it worked in my 03 and I had 75,000 on it when I traded.

Thanks for the encouragement about the MPG; I guess I will just have to take more trips with the Monty.
Too bad this work thing gets in the way.

My mpg is just about the same...I cruise at about 63. Head winds are tough, although with these trucks you can't even tell there is any wind except for the mpg on the dic, and, of course, when you refuel.

Glenn, I'd be interested in your mileage with the new Montana once you've had some towing time with it. I know the GM's get a bit better mileage than my Ford, but... you've been towing the lightest, or one of the lightest Montanas. That extra couple thousand pounds you're going to be towing will likely cut your mileage a bit. Not a lot, but a bit. At 23,160 pounds gross, I can't expect to get the same mileage as those reporting towing 18,xxx pounds. Hopefully the difference you see will be minimal. I'm going to be in the TV market this summer so I read these posts with definite interest.
