New to us Monty!
Well, after much discussion and driving 1000+ miles to see it, we have purchased our first Monty A 2011 3400RL has been added to the family and we couldn't be happier...unless someone wants to drive the 1000+ miles again to pick it up. Alaska is just a different animal when it comes to distance and availability. We are hoping to go back up Memorial Day weekend to pick it up and bring it home.
I learned quite a bit in the process like the 2011 year model has models with both the 2010 features and the 2011 features, depending on when it was built. Ours has the 2010 features, which was a surprise, but not a big deal. So much to learn and so many of you to mooch knowledge off of. Thanks for all the help so far. Many more questions to come.

Congratulations Ken! Hope you have many wonderful outings with the new trailer. They are a little different than cars with model changes aren't they? Ours was just built the first week of May, and it is already a 2013 edition... Don't know if anything major changed, but we'll see. Enjoy your Memorial Day outing! We were just up in Alaska almost exactly a year ago for a couple of weeks - love your state...

I would love to go up to Alaska and help you pick up your new rig. I love anything about Alaska and have been there many times, but not enough times if you know what I mean. It's a great place to visit but I don't have the courage or know-how to live there and greatly admire those who do.
What I have learned from the residents is that 1000+ miles in Alaska is like a day trip. The state is so big their perspective is much farther than mine. LOL
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new rig! Please keep us posted as you get things worked out.

Well, the Monty is at home. We had a fast and furious trip up to Fairbanks and beyond and back. Now to get it cleaned up and stocked.

Glad you made it up and back safe and sound Ken. Hopefully you can take her out on the next trip and relax with a little slower pace!

Chasnracin, it would be interesting to see what differences there are. We have a 2011 3400 as well, but I think ours was later in the year, based on what I've seen walking through others. Feel free to PM us, or to put questions on the forum! Already have done a few "minor" mods! We're sure enjoying ours.

Enjoy your new rig. You should consider weighing it before you start stockpiling. lol. We have found out we are hoarders when we emptied our 5th wheel.

Bill and Ann, Yeah, luckily we are minimalist. When we emptied our Outback, we had a total of 3 tubs of stuff from the inside (not counting the basics for setup in the storage area). All total I think we had maybe 400lbs of "stuff" I know the Monty is larger which normally means you end up with more stuff, but we have been really good not to "expand" into the space, but just enjoy it:-) BOL in your new rig.
TAKPAK, The big differences we noticed were the curved roof and integrated, or hidden AC's. Another small thing was the integrated Corian sinks (ours are undermouted. I think most other things are the same. I am definitely a "modder" so I take every chance I can to see what I can change or improve upon. I've already busted my modding account for the year with the list I have (maybe the DW will let me slide a little), but I am always taking new suggestions. LOL

From my prospective, knowledge gained here is NOT "mooching" but sharing a common love of Monty's- Enjoy your new to you rig and share with all of us whatever trials and tribulations come your way- I'm sure y'all will enjoy this forum- JMHO- Don
