Propane tanks

Hi y’all
I would like to know what you suggest for monitoring propane levels in my two tank in my 5th wheel.
Should I user a Bluetooth checker or phone? I’m thinking Bluetooth because in some areas we don’t have cell service.

Which should I purchase?

I don't have a monitor on mine. I only turn on one bottle at a time that way I know when one is empty. (If camping when the furnace is required I'll turn on the second bottle in the evening so I'm not outside in the cold and dark, in the middle of the night, turning on the other bottle when the first goes empty. Come morning I turn it back off.)It's rare I ever have a tank go completely empty. After years of RV'ing you get pretty accustom to what your usage is. Either by lifting or sound I know when one is getting close. It's then I put the full one on line and have the low one filled.

Over the Years, I've tried a couple of things that really didn't work. Finally gave up, since like the water tanks I got good at determining usage and checking the cross over gauge when it's about time. That doesn't mean that now days there isn't a system that really works, just that I no longer have the need to find one.

I have had very good luck with the Mopeka LP tank sensors, Get the pro models they are better snesors.

It's amazing that there is that little semaphore device on the regulator that changes from green to red, and the handle points to the cylinder that is empty. No fancy electronics to deal with, and we've been doing this for years with never once running out of propane and we are full time.

My Montana had an automatic switchover valve. Open the tanks, and forget it. The is an indicator that lets you know when the primary tank is empty. You could also pour hot water or coffee down the side of the tank. Condensation will form at the propane level. Primitive, but it works.

Since we are not full timers, our fiver may sit for maybe 3 months under the RV port in hibernation ... it may sit another month on into the year. It's hard to keep track of how much propane use that's gone on compared to being in your fiver every day. Sooooo .... the Mopeka setup already described works well for us. I got the kit that had a little display I mounted in the area of the Montana switch cluster, but I also downloaded the app ... both work well. If you do have issues with iffy signal, just sand off enough of the paint off the bottom of the tank so the sensor sits right on bare metal. I split 1/4" vacuum hose and laced it on the metal ring on the bottom of my tanks ... gives just a bit more space for the sensor to live better.

I'm not a fan of the auto switchover ... that feature has left RVer's high and dry without propane many times.

I’ve used these tank sensors for years. Pretty reliable and you can name them.

I go with the switchover valve, like others above. We don't use a lot of propane - mostly cooking since we travel exclusively in the summer. So every month or so I just check and if red fill up the appropriate tank. Don't see the big deal.
I have never had a problem except when a tank valve stuck and put out no propane. And I have been doing this for 17 years.

I'm another one of those, one-tank-at-a-time people, even though mine does have the automatic switch over.

My way of determining how full they are is to simply lift them up. I'll unsnap the strap, and simply lift them up half an inch. That tells me all I need to know.

I guess that would be ok but over the years I just check on it and do a manual switch that way I always have some

With the Mopeka sensors I'm notified when levels are low. No guess work.
