water pump????

Think my water pump must be going out. Whenever I open a valve what pressure is in the line will let the water come out till it stops then the pump will kick on for a couple of seconds and more water and then stops again, leave the valve open and nothing, then it might kick on again. last night the pump had quit all together. No water when any faucet opened. Now this morning it produced water again off and on. When the pump does kick on it is very slow.
Seems like I only get about 2 years out of these pumps. This pump is dated 11-09 so there is still a year left on warranty.
Any one else have this experience?

I would look at any inlet screens in the system. is there one at the pump itself? Sounds like a screen is plugging up and after sitting it opens back up.

Screen was good, I had an extra new pump so put it on and now is all ok. This is the 3rd Shur-Flo smart sensor 5.7 that I've gone thru.
good thing they have a 3 year warranty. Last time they told me to peel the sticker off and send it in and they replaced it. They used to want the whole pump.

Allen,
Don't feel like you are the only one. I had my second pump of the same design fail yesterday just 8 months after being installed. At least it failed before Quartzsite this time. I called the manufacturer this morning and they just had me send them the label off the pump and they will be sending me a new replacement at no charge. I told them for the amount of money these pumps cost you would think they would last longer. Thank goodness for the 3 year warranty.

The first one lasted a little less than a year too. That one failed while we were dry camped in Quartzsite. Fortunately I was able to get a replacement pump in town. I now carry an extra pump with me just in case.

Jack
