Hookup 30amp to 50amp EMS

If you buy a 50 AMP portable EMS, how can you hook up to 30 amp if that is all the RV spot has? Does the 50 amp EMS still work and what is a "dog bone" connection? Would this be your way of hooking up?

To hook your 50 amp EMS to 30 amp service: Purchase a "dog bone" that is about 18" long that has male 30 amp prongs 0n one end and a 50 amp female receptical on the other end. Plug the "dog bone" 30 amp end into the 30 amp service amd your 50 amp EMS in to the "dog bone" 50 amp receptical. I have a 50 amp Portable Surge Guard and that is what I do when only a 30 amp service is avaliable and it works with 50 amp or 30 amp service.

Take a look at Wal-mart for the adapters. They have some plugs that are 30 to 50 and 50 to 30. Lot easier that dog bones. IMHO

I have a cable that's a "Y" with one end of the "Y" plugging into a 30amp circuit and the other into a 15 amp circuit. The bottom of the "Y" plugs into my 50amp cable which of course plugs into the trailer. I use this when 50 amp circuits are not available in RV parks. It effectively gives me 45 amps to play with ... and it works just as it's supposed to.
