There is a gap.
Possible problem: There is a gap between the bay door and the edge of the convenience center (at least there is on my unit). So vermin can crawl up the hose and into the convenience center. Then they can crawl through the gap between the convenience center wall and the bay door. There are many, many spiders and other undesirable bugs around here. We have spotted both black widows and brown recluse in our area.
A Solution: had some scrap sticky back molding, so I cut a strip for the edge of the wall. It didn't quite fill the gap, so I cut another strip for the inside of the door. The two moldings compressed together slightly to provide a seal.

You could try some Moth Balls too they would at least keep the bugs out.

That's why I said "a solution" rather than the solution. Moth balls would also keep me out. I hate that smell. The idea was to use materials on hand rather than buy something else. There are many ways to fill the gap.

Like your idea Stiles! I have trouble with the moth balls as well. We put some in our TT one of the first times we had it in winter storage.....WHEW.....when we took it out in the spring, it took well over a year to clear out the odor. Sure, no bugs, but no people as well!

Nice job Stiles. I have some sticky backed foam tape which I will use.

Stiles,
I put two rags in a plastic bag and stuff them in the hole around the hose to try and keep vermin out. I had not noticed the place you mentioned until I checked it out. I will pick up some weatherstripping and put on there. Thanks.

I like that idea too. I think I'll put some sticky back foam there as well. As for critters crawling up the hose. Well I was at Lowe's today and picked up a mini toilet plunger for $3.00, threw away the handle and drilled out the middle with a 1" forstner bit and another hole beside that one with a 3/8" forstner bit. The plunger fits perfectly in the opening with a slight push to seal it. A short water hose and short coax cable runs thru the holes I drilled in the plunger. I wrapped elec tape around the hose and cable where it runs thru the plunger to make a tight fit. I put a 90' fitting on the hose end that connects to the convenience center. When it's not being used just connect the hose ends together and a barrel connector on the cable and attach the ends together. Store it in a bin until needed.

I just cut a piece of sponge foam the same diameter of the hole the hose and cable pass through then cut a hole in the center of it for the water hose and cable to pass through to stop any critters before they get into the compartment.

Stiles -
Thanks for the warning as we are pending our move down to your neck of the woods. There is a company that one of our members (Fred) mentioned at a past rally called RV-Critter Guard. Again, on-hand items means it gets done right away.

What is so great about sharing ideas is you can pick a fix that works for you. I have rags stuffed around the hose/cable access. I like the plunger/foam hole stuffers. I will add that improvement over the rags.

I had some 2 inch sterofoam laying around so I marked the hole using the hole covers for the convenience center, then cut a hole just big enough for the water hose and cable line. Then I used a couple of fingers cut from a rubber glove to fill the gap between the water hose and the sterofoam. Thanks for the all the idea's.
