Glowing Embers in the fireplace with no power

I 'm puzzled as to why I see what appears to be some "glowing embers" in our electric fireplace when there is no power to the unit, no coach batteries installed and the cutoff switch in the off position. Is anyone else seeing this or am I just suffering from wannabecampingitis?

Ours has always been that way. I think it is just light reflection, even though it is an amazing amount of color even in very low light situations.

Yes, I have seen the same thing. Really confused me and even asked my dealer. I did not get an answer.

We have it, too. I think its pretty cool. Makes me feel like I need to douse the campfire with water or something.

Yes it's just reflection. Some of the materials are like glow in the dark items.
