Bedsaver
One of my buddies (long time fifth wheeler) was messing around over the weekend, and dropped his fifthwheel on his truck bed, damaging both the bed as well as the fifth wheel itself. Will probably need a new bed, and he may well have to return the unit to the manufacturer for repair. As careful as he is, if it can happen to him, it will happen to me. Sunday, I ordered a bedsaver from an outfit in Oklahoma. If your kingpin for any reason is released, it slides into the bedsaver safely. Weights 30 pounds, bolts on to existing holes on the hitch, no interference with hookup. Never felt the need, but after seeing the damage my buddy experienced, and knowing how careful he always is, with his checklists and routines, if it can happen to him, it can happen to me. If interested, you can check out at Bedsaver.com. Site has nice video demonstrating how the bedsaver works.
