Slide Out Seal Cost?

ARGH!!! I took Miss Monty to get a bath at the dealer today. I asked him to adjust & check the slideouts. I called him just a bit ago to learn they are waiting on a price from the company they order their slide seals from. My bottom bedroom slide seal has to be replaced. This was manufactured in January of 2005. Is it common for a seal to be replaced this soon? I am not blming Keystone or anyone else because things happen. Thats life. I am just upset but glad I caught this before anything happened because the bad seal was on the unit.

If you have had to replace a seal did your warranty cover any of the cost? How much does one of these seals cost?

Is the seal that they want to replace over the tires? I Had a 2003 315rl TT and that seal was letting in water when driving in rain but hard to believe that they were still using that seal because of the leaks. If thats it e-mail me and I will tell you how I fixed it.

He finally called me back today. The seal is not the one over the tires but at the front of the trailer under the bed slide. His cost $500 for the seal, labor and of course none of it is covered under warranty! ARGH! The maintance on this thing is worse than a house. I decided since the rv dealership is not standing behind a product I purchased from them less than 8 months ago I am not giving them my business. I am taking it somewhere else. It is simply a flat piece of rubber which the scrapes the bottom of the slide when it travels in or out. $500 for a flat piece of rubber? I think not!

I had to replace the top seal on our 2000 TT. It was a formed rubber seal with little metal clippy thingamajigs inside it to cling to the opening. I think I paid a price per foot (several years ago). It was a sofa/dinnete slide and I think it was less than $100.

Was it new when you bought it from them 8 months ago, if so it should be under warranty.

I don't feel a slide seal should go in just 2 years. I would be on the phone (NO EMAIL) to Keystone Customer Service at (574) 535-2100 or (866) 425-4369 before contacting any other dealers. When talking to Keystone stay calm cool and collected.

Okie Guy.. Here is what has worked for us when calling Customer service. Of course be calm, collective and polite, When You get customer service ask to speak to someone from "Team Montana"It has been our experience that these folks can best help you.

I'm not sure what the seal looks like that you need, but here are a couple of places I have bookmarked incase I ever need to replace any seals. I think the installation of seals should be pretty straight forward and might be something you could do your self.

I replaced all the slide out seals on a Jayco 3710RLTS w/ 3 slideslast spring. The cost was $1100 and change and included parts and labor at a RV repair shop in Myrtle Beach SC.
