Fresh water tank
Does anyone travel with the fresh water tank full. We are planning a trip to Alaska and want to be prepared to boondock when desired. Does the tank need reinforced in some way?

We have at times carried 2/3 full tank of fresh water. We didn't have any problems. Enjoy your Alaskan trip. To us it was a trip of a lifetime. We liked it so much we returned 3 times. No we did not reinforce the tank. My best advice is to slow down for the road conditions and enjoy the sights. There are plenty places to boondock.

Fill the tank. That is what it is designed for.

When we took the tour at Keystone's factory, it appeared the fresh water tank was supported better than the others. We usually travel with it at least half full.

Actually a full tank will have less problems than a half full tank. There is less room for the liquid to slosh around and it will exert less force on the walls of the tank.
Also, it has been mentioned on this forum that a full fresh water tank will tend to counterbalance the trailer.
Visiting Alaska is a great trip. Many happy trails to you.

I had always wondered if this was the case. Seems logical that the fuller the tank the less movement and momentum of the water to do damage by shifting.

We always travel with a full fresh water tank. That's what it's for. We've arrived at destinations only to find out that for various reasons the park's water system is turned off. Bummer. We especially like to make sure our tank is full when we leave the Escapees RV Park in Lakewood, NM because the water is RO (reverse osmosis).
