Bathroom Light Switch

Simple mod -

Never did like the hall and bathroom light tied together. Added a new switch inside the bathroom, which now controls the bathroom light separately. Now someone can use the head without waking up the other in the bedroom.

I used the wiring from the original switch to the light to pull in a new wire through the wall. Fortunately, the wiring is routed to the bathroom first, then the hall, so no problem splitting them up into separate switches.

Also added a second switch to turn on and off the Fantastic Fan. This one a little trickier, as the fan uses ground for switching to allow the lid to still close with the switch off. New wire from existing switch to new switch to ground. The new wall switch or the switch on the fan will turn it on.

Switches are from PPLmotorhomes and are the factory ivory with gold lettering. Could not find the factory raised bezels and switch covers though.

Brad that is nice to have right there. That is what we like about the 3585, the light & fantastic fan switches are already in the bathroom. Great idea and nice work!

Yeah, I did that one as well as my DW is light sleeper. I also added an outlet too so we could leave a nightlite on, cause we're scared of the dark! Hahaha

This is a great mod and one I will do soon. Right now we turn the hall light off at the fixture so that we can turn the little room light on by itself. Your idea is better.

I just leave the outside switch in the on position and turn off the other light. That way we turn the light on and off in the bathroom right at the fixture itself.

As for the fantastic fan, we leave that switch in the on position also and control the light fixtures with their own switches. Works for us.

Good Job. I also did that. Getting a matching switch was a problem. I had to go with the white verses the ivory.

I just did it. I also add a switch for the vent fan, took less than 2 hours and that included time to figure out what I was going to do. With the 3000RK, The fan and light are on the same circuit. It was real easy to drop the wires down next to the door knob.

Great idea, I guess I will have to find the switch and make the mod. I did add a switch for the vent fan in the toilet room but I put it on the inside wall next to the toilet as that is the only way that I could get the wires to run down the wall. The switch was on the ceiling vent and my wife was unable to reach it, now she can.
