Ram Timbren Question
I just put Timbrens on my new 2019 Ram. It comes with a hard rubber spacer that would keep the Timbrens in contact with the axle always. I installed without the spacer. Curious what others have done. I have about a 1/2” of clearance without the spacer.

On my previous F350 I left the spacer put so there was about 1/2-3/4” of travel.

Yeah I don't have them yet but you want at least 1/2" but I would say about 1' because when you put less weight you will be riding that stop and the ride will be harsh. Since you have a 1 ton you really don't want it to touch until you put about 2500 lbs to 3000 lbs that's is when you would really need it to work.
I'm thinking about installing some but since I just bought my 1 ton hooking it up to my 5th wheel I might not need them, my payload in my truck is 3800 lbs and my 5th wheel is about 2500 lbs to 2600 lbs.
Congrats on your new 3500 ram.

Unless you have a camper on it that you never take off, don't install the spacer. Had them on my previous truck.

So far I am liking the empty ride with the Timbren. My new hitch arrives today. I will probably hook up just to see what the squat looks like. Spartacus, eTrailer had a special on the Timbrens right now. Very easy to install if you haven’t done it before. Since it’s a lifetime warranty on them, I’m keeping the old stops if I ever get another new truck.

Not a dumb question. They are rubber bump stops with a progressive spring rate that help take the “squat” out of your truck when towing. If you were to compare the stock bump stop on the rear of my 2019 Ram, it sits about 4” off the axle. The standard stop is a wedge shaped solid rubber that will make line contact on the top of your axle. The Timbren is a round, hollow rubber that makes contact to your axle once engaged. The Timbren sits about an inch above the axle, so it makes contact much sooner and with a progressive spring rate - more load = more resistance. The whole idea is to remove the squat. It does not increase the capacity of your truck. If you are overloaded, it will not help. I have noticed on our neighborhood washboard roads that it handles better. On our 2013 Ram 3500, our headlights were pointed up slightly. Hope his helped. Since this is my first set of Timbrens, I was looking to see what others have done. They come with a hard rubber spacer that would have required constant contact with the axle on my truck. Timbren recommends about an 1” gap between their stop and the axle. That is how I installed mine.

By the way, especially on my new truck, they are an extremely easy install - 2 bolts on each side. Remove the two bolts, remove old stop, screw the back bolt in part way, slide the slot over that bolt, install front bolt and tighten. I used a 1/2” socket wrench and an extension. Easy peazy.

I went to 4Wheel Parts store yesterday and they can order them for me and they told me that I can get a military discount on them, and since I did twenty-eight years in the military I think that I will be going there to get them. They said that it will take a day to get them so every bit help.

I was doing three installs at once - Timbren, AMP Bumper Step and a Pullrite 2600. Timbren was great, the Pullrite takes a 1 1/8” deep dish socket (which I don’t have on the mountain) and the step didn’t fit the truck. I just need to torque 2 bolts on the Pullrite and it’s done. What a difference in bed real estate compared to my 16 year old Reese 16k Slider with the Ram Picture frame for the Puck system. I probably have save 200 lbs over the axle. AMP is a different story. Their tech was a jerk. It turns out their step won’t fit a 2019 3500. I ground it to fit the bumper bolts then used a 2” square aluminum tube as a spacer. Just waiting on the US Rack Fifth Wheel Kayak Rack coming the end of the month. Just in time to load up for Rally. We’ll look like the Clampets of Beverly Hillbillies.

With the new trucks being so tall did you have trouble leveling the trailer to tow?

No, Mike, not a problem at all. My 2013 squatted a little and the 2019 does a little. And, the Timbrens don’t even touch until the trailer is connected. Plus, MoRRyde leveled everything out when they put IS on last year.

Oh yeah nice setup I have the same. AMP step on the back as you have I had it on my 2017 so I took it off to put it on my 2018.
So I notice that you don't have a slider what kind of 5th wheel you have, I don't have a slider with mines and I have the B&W Companion.?

Love my Timbrens. Did not use spacer My Pullrite hitch takes out the extra 1/2 inch anyway.
