Rolls of 1/2" velcro??

I'm putting the acrylic sheets on my screen door like nearly every Monty I've seen and I've located the sheet acrylic at Lowes, but having trouble finding 1/2" wide Black velcro. I need 25' of it. I've only found an industrial supplier that sells a case of it.

Can anyone recommend a source?

We get our Velcro at a large Fabric Store(Fabric land in Canada). They have all kinds black, white, stick on, sew on in various widths. So say a store like your Joanne's Fabrics or Hancock's will have some.

Did you ask at Lowe's? I have bought the rolls three different times at the local Lowe's. Were hanging on a rack near the hardware, screws, nuts, bolts, etc.

I'll check at the stores. The websites don't have those sizes listed. I'm wanting 1/2" wide to avoid having to cut the tape in half. I have found 25 yd reels of both hook and loop, but I'd be spending more for the velcro than the acrylic.

We bought the 1" velco and cut ours in half to mount the plexiglass to the door. Worked great for us!

Got mine at Lowes, more at Home Depot, and even more at a local ACE hardware. I wish I invented that stuff; it's great!

We took a slightly different route. Bought it at ACE, but everyone has it. The vinyl sheet stuff you can use on patio doors, and windows.

About $10 a box for enough to do the screen door 3+ times. It comes in different thickness's. The patio door stuff is usually heavier. Put the provided double sided tape on the screen door (on the side that is outside) cut the vinyl about 3-4" too big, with some help in no wind stick the vinyl to the tape. Then heat with a hair dryer to shrink and get the wrinkles out. Have it on our door since May and not a single problem.

You know that is a very interesting approach. Certainly a lot cheaper, less prone to mistakes, and if you screw up or need to just remove it, you're out $10. I was looking at >$50 the acrylic way. I will give this method a shot first and see if I like it. My goal at the end of the day is to be able to keep the main door open and let more light in and appear at home to friends strolling the CG. This stretch vinyl will keep the cool air out somewhat, and should accomplish what I want. If I want it out in the summer, then pull it down and repeat next winter for $10.

Jim, Our friend with a 3150 did it on theirs. Put the plastic on the inside of the door. It gets dirty thru the screen and you can not clean it. With it on the outside of the screen door, when the door is open like carrying in grocery's, the plastic is against the inside of the outer door and is protected from being rubbed against. FYI. Jim

Well, it's done. Went to ACE and got their patio door version of the film, which is twice as thick as the window version. I have plenty of film for multiple times, but only enough clear double-sided tape for one installation. It took no time at all. I spent most of my time carefully trimming the excess close to the tape so it would look better. From 3 ft. away you can't see it.

If I want to go acrylic, then I can still do that, if this doesn't provide enough air and temperature blockage for my needs.

Jim, you can buy the tape separate, should be there where the kits are. You could also put the film on both sides of the screen door so you would have a double pane type thing. Jim
