We have the Progressive 50 amp. Check at Tweety's RV parts for the best price.

We use ours with the portable Generator, 15 Am, 30 Amp and 50 Amp. With a portable generator one plug must be ground neutral bonded.

The advantage to hardwiring the unit is you don't have to worry about forgetting it, nor about someone pilfering it. You can also remove it and re-wire the old wiring if you want if/when you buy a new 5th wheel.

get a surge protector and use it all the time. Spend a few dollars and have it installed inside the rig instead of at the pedestal...it's always there and less work. We have pedestal 50 amp. No thieves and no lock. Most rv sites are seniors and they don't steal anymore. Can't get away as fast!! My next surge protector will be hard wired inside. Good Luck.

We use the PI as well. I use a gun cable lock ( someone here posted a picture) wrapped around the power cord and run a cable through that to the power pedestal.

Ours has kept us safe several times. Just this past October on a pheasant hunting trip it let us know the pedestal had an open ground. Moved to a new site and all was well.

We also plug it in before we pull in to avoid the hassle.

Highly recommend this unit.

We have the HW50C as well. (See my signature) My first and best mod to my shiny new Montana. An absolute must have considering the damage that can be done to your beautiful Montana if you don't have one. I like the hard wire as it's one less thing to forget or get stolen.
P.S. Thanks for the idea of the gun lock that I never use. I'll lock up my propane tanks with all the extra ones I have.
