Travel on Christmas Day
We plan on leaving for our winter trip to Florida on Christmas Day. Figure traffic will be low but wondering about Diesel Fuel. I assume most truck stops/travel service centers will be open. Not worried about food since we will have that with us. Plan on getting thru Atlanta that day before stopping for the night.
Has anyone else traveled on Christmas Day? Any trouble finding fuel stations open?

No trouble with fuel stations along interstates, and even on back roads most convenience stores are open during the day to sell batteries and stuff folks forgot. The real problem can arise if you have a breakdown or need a tire.

Not sure that any holiday is much of an issue anymore for traveling. There might be a few stations closed, but you should find most of them open.

Like mentioned ... sadly holidays are becoming "just another day" for today's soceity ... at least here in the midwest. Most all gas and fast food stores are open as usual. Just 5 years ago or so, when I would travel back home to Missouri on Thanksgiving morning ... while traveling thru KCMO, it was tough to find a fast food or service station open ... now even KMart and some of the Malls have bunches of cars in the parking lots when I pass thru. The almighty dollar speaks and the populace responds to the beating of the drum.

Sounds like it is a go. The last time I traveled any long distance, on Christmas Day, was over 40 years ago. I was beginning to worry on that trip that I would find gas. All food places were closed then so we ate snacks from the gas station. I am ready for some Florida sunshine!!!!!!

Gary, we are moving the fiver next Monday to Clarksville RV Park from Peoria IL. We will be driving the truck back to Peoria for Christmas eve without the fiver, then driving back to Clarksville TN on Christmas day. I really don't anticipate any problems getting fuel at Love's or Pilots.
Couple of questions, and you can PM me if you want. Did you retire from Pinckneyville Prison? My brother-in-law just retired from there. Also, where in Florida are you heading?
