Outdoor Entertainment Center

Looking at the concept drawing for the 3160RL, it shows the Outdoor Entertainment Center. We'll see if that stays in the design, but for those who already have it on an existing unit, how do you like it? Any issues?

Absolutely love ours. It has become the "man cave" area. With our model and perhaps others, we had to put felt on all of the screw heads in the hinges, since they do contact the corners of the television.

Quite frankly my issue with it is if I want to watch a ball game or the races ... I'd not make others in a campground endure my preferences unless I further invested in wireless headphones to eliminate irritation to others. If I was into toy haulers and grouped together with a bunch of gearheads tuning their bikes or dune buggies at say Little Sahara in OK, then what the hey.

My suggestion then would be to not select a site next to ours. Motorhomes have had the outside compartment television for years, and we are glad that they migrated their way to our rig. Ironically, if we are watching a movie on surround sound in the living room, it produces the same amount of supposedly distracting noise on the outside, does that mean we should not entertain ourselves?

I'd say if your inside TV watching is as loud as an outside entertainment center ... you may want to visit an Audibel hearing center. I can't comment further as I'll just get yet another disipline note from a moderator.

We boondock away from others. I just want to know how the system performs. Thanks for the opinions, but they really aren't answering my question. Our son works for one of the NFL teams and we like to see their games (not necessarily with sound) but we tend to be forced to choose between outside and inside. Bingo, it looks like the awning over the entertainment center precludes slide topper awnings. Is that true?

Not sure Ron, our model does not have a slide beneath the awning and we have slide toppers on all five slides. The television that we have, in conjunction with an HD Directv receiver, has a fantastic picture. I totally enjoy watching football games outside, regardless of the weather, and the entertainment center meets all of my expectations. Our set is on a swivel mount which allows for pivoting to minimize bright background influences on the picture. If the outside speakers were intended to function with the television, I have not figured out how to do that, rather I just use the television speakers which are marginally acceptable (and cannot be used to drown out neighbors since they do not play loud enough!!)

Bingo - not sure about the use of felt on the screw heads, as it will hold moisture and could cause the screw heads to rust (being outside). Thin rubber pads might be a better choice.

We have the outside entertainment and haven't used it - yet. I'm sure we will use it this winter in FL. It is in a slide that has a topper AND there is an awning on the slide to cover the viewing area. It's an awesome setup and I can't wait to use it.

We have a neighbor who uses his A LOT. He calls it his "Man Cave" and watches sports after work almost everyday. Doesn't bother anybody.

Tom, if the small felt pads draw moisture, then I am going to have way bigger problems than rusted screws. To date, we have not had any evidence of moisture in the outside entertainment center and hope that it continues that way considering the electronics that are housed inside. I must admit, that as per your suggestion, the rubber pads will likely work better since they probably would offer even more protection. Might have to see what Lowes or Amazon has!!

Hello, All

Our skyline Koala 24rbk had an outdoor kitchen with a t.v. hookup and we just loved it. if Montana had a outside kitchen/entertainment center in a model that we liked we would have it today. we had to go out and buy a small fridge and set it under our awning to keep drinks in so now there is a security issue with keeping an eye on it. we miss the just close the hatch and lock and no worries. and also a lot of parks do not allow outside fridges. but ether way it was one of the deal withs that over took the must haves so we got a model that suits us and the outside kitchen was not an option on the model we bought. but it is surly missed.

We have the same model as Bingo (in basic, not Big Sky though) and we enjoy it. My husband is a news junkie and enjoys watching the news while eating breakfast. My son is autistic and mildly mentally impaired, so we don't want to expose him to the news. Since the kids sleep in the living room, turning on that tv at breakfast is not an option... Unless we want to watch Arthur or Backyardigans, lol. The outside entertainment system works for everyone. We also use it regardless of the weather. The awning keeps us dry in the rain and cool in the sun.

One thing we can't figure out is how to play DVDs. We put them in the player, but can't seem to get the right buttons pushed to get the DVD to play on the TV.

We have the outside entertainment center as Bingo. Ron, we have not had any issues with ours. Rosetta made a sleeve to put over the TV to keep it from getting scratched from the restraining strap. We are going to have to keep a watch to see if moisture might be a problem with the sleeve. Thanks Tom for the comment on moisture. I have used it a number of times and enjoy it. I see a number of people with TV's outside in many configurations. Some sitting in open storage compartments, on tables, home made stands, etc. Issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a tv mounted in our basement an I enjoy it . Helps to get to know your neighbors, as the friendly ones stop and watch with you. I always use good neighbor manners and keep the sound reasonable. Also turn it off at a reasonable hour. Wouldn't be without it.
