Holding tank sensors
It seems that our holding tank sensors are very quick to show 1/3, but then go up at what seems a reasonable rate from there, depending on our useage. Does anyone know if when the sensors show full, are the tanks actually full, or is there some margin for additional "input?"

When the tanks are new, the sensors may be accurate but after that they shouldn't be relied upon. Our rule of thumb is when the toilet "burps" we usually can go at least one more day before dumping the black water. We have had times when the black water tank was completely full and that definitely told us to dump. When our toilet burps the first time, we usually go and dump. We wait until the next morning to dump.
As for the gray water tank, we never worry about it. We can certainly tell when it's full when water stands in the shower!

Ditto ols1932
Forget the silly things, find something else to worry about,
Like when is the next ice cream run, do they have my favorite flavor??
Pie anyone??
Yea, I know, silly, but, so are those gauges.

I quit looking at those sensor readings a long time ago. I just go on instinct now.

our black gauge quit working a couple years ago. But we know about how long two of us can use it without a problem. As you do a little trial and error you will find out. But for now I would say when they first read full you should still have a little room so you can take care of it.

I'm with Carol on this one, the only time I believe these gauges is when I fill the fresh water tank and it overflows on the outside and the gauge reads full. That's it, the only time. Now run to the clubhouse and get some ice cream.......Actually, you will learn when the tanks are full. The toliet burps and the shower holds water........time to empty......

We use our sensors. With three grandkids camping you need to know the levels. Most times we're on non sewer sites. Changed out the probes to the Miracle Probes. They seem to be working must better.

Sensors cannot be trusted to be accurate. I can clean my tanks and sensors still show 1/3 full. It's been that way since day 1. As many have said - manage the tanks based on past usage and experience.

I always end up dumping my black tank due to odor long before its full...recently, maybe due to the heat, I've only been able to go barely a week between dumps. The gauge usually says full by then, but I can tell by the volume of flow through my clear connector that its not even close to full (maybe 3/4 at most). I know the difference as when I fill the tank when cleaning, I put more water in it than comes out when dumping.

Out of the loop for a couple of days...not all parks have wifi, can you believe it!? Anyway, thanks to all for your comments...the notion of waste water oozing into the interior of our rig is something I definitely want to avoid.
