Wheel hub dust cover

Today I stopped for a break and as usual do a walk around checking tires, shoot temps on wheel hubs and immediately noticed I was missing a dust cover that has the rubber plug covering the grease zerk. Anyone have a part # and if I recall my axles are 6k Dexter. I'll be in the Casa Grande area for a week and hoping I can find one to cover it up.

Best to hit it with some grease and duck tape it in the mean time!

I consider that good advice and did exactly that at the rest area before I got back on the road. I had all 4 wheel bearings packed back in September and while I was pumping some grease in I noticed it didn't take long till it flowed out. Figure the mechanic did a good job on the 4 bearings.

You're looking for a dust cap that measures 2.44" +/- to fit your 6K axles. Try any trailer parts stores in the area as they do not have to be "Dexter " brand. NAPA, Tractor Supply, or Norhtern Tool come to mind or maybe most auto parts stores can get them maybe next day. Or just order on Amazon if you'll be in the area for the week. Actual Dexter numbers are K71-317-00 or K71-320-00 for the rubber plug only. 021-042-01 is another Dexter number. Just be sure they are for a 2.44" hole.

Thank you for the information. Will be out and about Monday checking on them.

For my last trailer I bought a number of them at a trailer sales/repair facility. I then found them on Amazon just need to know your diameter. Got rid of the trailer but still have a sack of them at the trailer barn - they deteriorate pretty quickly, love to crack and/or disappear.

I’ve used a cap from a paint spray can that fits tight over the entire hub. As for a replacement, both of the suspension parts outlets here in Mesa AZ carry that rubber seal you are missing. Look for a similar supplier near you.

Bought a replacement from Amazon and it was a 2.72" diameter and fits perfectly. Appreciate all the suggestions and input.
