Dual Motor Slide Controller

After a couple of months in storage, I was checking out the RV today and found the slide controller flashing angry lights; 9 reds followed by 1 green, repeat.

According the the label that means "Motor 1 Hall Pwr Short to Gnd". Anybody seen this or have any idea what I will have to do to fix it? The slide is out and I have not tried moving it yet. I've heard horror stories about getting to these motors.

Also, which is motor 1; fore or aft?

The good news is the slide is out. Much easier to access the screw that holds in place (done from the outside).

Hard to tell which is motor 1 v. 2. You can bump the button and see which slide moves or not. I have no idea what causes the code 9 error. The "hall" effect is the motor revolution counter used to determine slide movement. My experience is with a "dead" motor and I haven't run into your problem.

The LCI video is pretty good and may have information for your problem.

Check for water intrusion into the motor.

We had that the other day and it was the motor controller or cable. First thing to do is switch connectors on the controller and attempt to move slides. If you see 9 red then 2 green . If yes then it’s motor or cable if not then controller. On ours it turned out to ne our motor.

Thanks all. I'll start poking around when it warms a little; expecting +1 tonight.

The RV is inside but unheated storage. I'll warm things up a bit with the ole' Farm King and then try to bump the slide to see what happens. In the meantime I'll take the LCI tech institute course.

First thing I am going to look for is a hungry mouse. Never had mice before but we have been gone two months.

From what I read, it looks like to change the motor the slide cannot be either all the way open or all the way closed. Mostly open to get at retaining screw and probably closed 6-12" to get at the motor from the inside.

This sound correct? Still working my way through Lippert U.

Does this look like the correct motor for a 5' bed slide?

The motors come in a 300:1 and a 500:1 version. You don't want to mix them obviously. The black cap used to denote a 300:1 and a white or silver cap used to denote the 500:1 model. Who knows with China made stuff today. Best bet is to use a mirror and get the numbers off your existing motor. Usually the 500:1 motors are for larger slides.

Well, good news. I checked out the slide today. I started it in and, as expected, it moved an inch or so and stopped. I started it in again and it went all the way in, then all the way out. I cycled it three times with no problems; alarms cleared.

Right. Either way, it will probably come back.

Hopefully it was a bad connection and now it's a good connection

Hold the button down for 5 seconds after it stops and it will say in sync.
