Pivot Hinge Bath Door
I was reading the 2016 Montana brochure on Keystones website, it's a very nice brochure. One of the things it lists for 2016 is a "Clever space saving pivot hinged bath door".
I looked at a few 2016 Montana's before we ordered our 3000RE and I didn't see any that had this type of door. Does anyone know which model it comes on? Has anyone seen one on a Montana? It looks like a great idea.
Here's a link to the 2016 brochure

I have a 3950 on order and it has one one the bath. I would think any with the bath in the hallway would have them.

Not sure that's a good idea. They work well in a stick house when they're new, but like most track doors they had issues as they aged, but so do most things in our rolling earthquakes.

It certainly looks clever but.... We are very glad our early 2015 has the larger bath configuration that allows the entry door to swing in to the bathroom instead of out in to the hallway.

If you want a side aisle bath model, and many do, I thought the pivot door was the smartest thing Keystone has done on the interior in a few years.
Your mileage may vary, of course.

I've seen a few, being a home builder, all I see are problems. Relatively light mechanism and rather cumbersome. I'd sooner have a pocket door and I hate them too. Hard to improve on a plain ol' door.

Saw one at the models they brought to the Q circle and not impressed. When traveling this thing is going to rattle around and it is not a heavy duty model. Time will tell. The design is based on storefront balanced doors but they have closers inside the actual mechanism which keeps them closed and stable.

I cannot comment on the longevity of these doors, but it will make it easier to get into the bathroom. In our 2015 - 353RL, we have to take a step down to open the door when coming from the bedroom. No room for a pocket door. It is a pain.
From my perspective, this is a great idea, just hope it has some reliability.

Saw these while at the MOC rally in Goshen. Most folks seemed not to be very impressed. Looked very awkward to me.

We just bought the 3720 it has the pivot door. The only problem which I have to have them fix is when in the bathroom, when you open, the door the hinge sticks at the bottom hopefully it's only an adjustment. Also have to open slide to access bathroom when on the road.

Saw at the MOC rally in Goshen and was not at all impressed with it. Also felt the commode area need more shoulder room. We have a 2013 and 2016 was my target year to replace but have not found one I like better. Maybe next year.......

Well of course if they had kept the larger bath sizes like our early 2015 3610 then there would be no need for this as our real door swings in nicely with lots of room to maneuver around and close it. Change isn't always for the better.

Our 2012 also opens to the inside and we have plenty of room. Are the bathrooms on the newer models that much smaller?

With our early 2015 3610 the 48" shower is centered on the wall with about 18-20" space at each end/side so our bathroom is longer perhaps only by say 10" but that allows the door to swing in and still be able to get around it.
I am guessing our hallway is that much longer as well hence why when they first went to swinging a full door out in to the hallway one had to step in to the bedroom to get past the bath door to open it and then enter.
Just goes to show that a few inches here and there really count.

So today I called Keystone and asked about the differences between the 2016 Legacy models that DW and I had seen on the dealers lot and what was shown in their newest brochure. I spoke with Brian at Keystone, he was very helpful and polite. He said that everything they were producing now would be as listed in the current brochure. So the 3000RE Legacy that we have on order will have the pivot door on the bathroom. I've not seen one in person and I can see where it may not be as durable, but it sure looks like it will be more convenient. On the unit we looked at on the lot, which had a regular door, we had to step back on the stairs to open the bathroom door. Some other features we didn't see on the lot unit were hard surface steps, hinged stove cover and an accessory hitch on rear cap models. We were a bit bummed thinking that with the rear cap we wouldn't have a hitch, but the brochure shows one.. sooo.. we shall see! LOL :-)

Yes, noticed the addition again of the rear hitch, go figure? Yet we are told if we add a hitch to our 2015 the frame warranty will be void.

We have a 3950 witht pivot door. We first saw the floor plan at Hersey and that had a regular door. You had to go into the bedroom before u could open the door to enter the bathroom. We were talking to the rep as we were getting. Ready to order and asked for a pocket door, but there was new room. He said they would figure something out. When ours came in it had the pivot door. We like it. Better the. The way it was.
I like to think I give them the idea of changing it when we talked to the keystone guy at Hersey before we ordered haha

I wish ours had the pivot door. I asked at the Tampa RV show if it our current door could be replaced with the pivot door, but was told it is about 1' wider. Our door opens into the bathroom and it's a squeeze to get in and shut it.

The pivot door was on the 2016 3710FL shown in Tampa, but was not in another 2016 3710FL we saw late last year at another dealer. Nor did the other dealer's unit have the retractable front TV and front windshield. I'm guessing it was a mid-year design change. We have one on order.
