Social Security Increase!!!!!
3.5%,
I'll take it!
Oh, it's coming in January:
WASHINGTON — Social Security recipients will get a raise in January — their first increase in benefits since 2009. Experts project the increase will be about 3.5 percent, and on Wednesday, about 55 million beneficiaries will find out for sure.
The annual cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, is based on a measure of inflation that Congress adopted in the 1970s. Since then, it has resulted in annual increases averaging 4.2 percent.
There was no COLA in 2010 or 2011 because inflation was too low. That, however, has been small comfort to the millions of retirees and disabled people who have seen their retirement accounts dwindle and their home values drop during the economic downturn.

We all know the reason, there is no inflation, no more than in 2009,2010, but I will take what ever we recieve. However if the others would do the same I would donate the increase for the year to pay down the national debt. But I'm sure that want happen. Happy Trails....

Don't be buying any Monty's on your increase, I bet the Medicare cost is going to go up the same amount as the increase.

I did see a headline this morning announcing an increase in Social Security BUT also saw another headline saying that Medicare costs may also increase due to the USPS plan to raise stamp prices.
Of course.

Currently, the projected Medicare Part B Standard Premiums are $108.20 for 2012, $112.10 for 2013 and $117.10 for 2014.
But what people are taking about is that premiums in 2012 will go up from $96.40 to $104.20. In 2013 it says premiums will rise to $120.20 and in 2014 they will be hiked up to $247.00.

Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) was announced officially today to be 3.6%.
It will no doubt be given to Social Security, Military, VA, and Federal retirees with some different forumala for different Federal categories.
Medicare Part B Premiums are to be announced next week and will no doubt increase.

Well, as of 1 October the Tricare prescriptions, when bought at a civilian pharmacy, went from $3.00 to $5.00. Isn't that like a 67% increase in just one area? Non formulary drugs went up acordingly and so did Brand name drugs not in the Tricare formulary. If you sign up for the Tricare home delivery program the standard generics are free for a 90 day supply. What gives with that? Remember the old saying, "The tax man giveth and the tax man taketh away".

In this case, the Tax Man is trying to motivate a change in your behavior. Get your prescriptions by mail and they don't need the sticks and bricks along with the people working there (or at least they will need fewer).

Aw shux! I missed the politic posts. Oh well. I hope it wasn't on the House retirement or SS. Most of that is false as being reported.
I pay $115 and some pennies times 2 (me ad wife) so 230 a month on Medicare part B. I wonder why others may be paying less.
Happy trails.
