2006 ford exhaust
We just bought a 2006 Ford 350 with the 6.0 diesel. Had thought about going with a bigger exhaust like I did with my 2001. This has a catalytic converter on it. Can you do away with the converter or does that void the warranty. This truck only had 5183 miles on it. Looks like new. The gentleman that had it got cancer and could not pull trailer. My good luck I guess.

Is it a converter or is it a scrubber to clean up the diesel smoke? They are starting to add those for polution control, not sure on your rig.

I would have to guess that if you messed with anything to do with the emisions that would void your warranty, and any fines if you get caught. Leave the cat just gut it. opps youdid not hesr that.

Mess with your exhaust on the NEW trucks and your computer will squeal on you. This is why the new trucks are a pain, everything ties to the computer, you mess, it knows. If you live in a state which will not require an emision test you may be ok if the truck will not have to go to the dealer for repair.

I subscribe to the power stroke magazine and in reading it sounds like you have to leave the cat in and use 4 in up to it and then 4 on back from it. Not sure it will be worth the money. Thanks for the replies.

Hello,
I have a F-350 turbo diesel with less than 20,000 miles. I put a Banks air kit and the 4 inch exhaust on it. I left the converter in since it is required. Banks Cat back includes 4 inch down pipe to the converter and 4 inch from the cat back. I am very satisfied with the improved breathing of the engine. No problems so far. It had to be adjusted after install since the down pipe had a rattle. There is not much room in that area. After adjustment no problems with the rattle. Can't really say that it improved the mileage more than perhaps one mpg.

Ron..Your 2006 6.0 does not have the 08 emission standards or the DPF . Your book will tell you what will void the warranty according to Ford.

It's going to depend on what state you live in as to whether or not it would be legal for you to to remove the cat. For example here in Virginia where I live, it is a $10K fine for removing your cat even though diesels are exempt from emission inspections at present.
Your Ford warranty on the other hand is going to be at the mercy of what ever Ford dealership you take your truck into. Some dealers are mod friendly and some are not and whatever they put into the Ford OASIS computer will follow that truck wherever it goes.. What you can do is a cat-back exhaust which will give you a better sound and maybe a little better flow over the stock exhaust.
I recently did a 4 inch downpipe and 4 inch dual cat back on my truck. It gave me the deeper throaty sound that I was looking for and seems to get me into the power band a bit quicker, although I haven't towed with it yet.

I think for right now I'm going to leave it alone. Might later this summer talk to the guy that did my 2001. See what he says. I don't want to mess with the cat.

This was a leased truck and the guy who had it turned it in because he has cancer and can't do any camping. Im sure in a year it will have a few more miles on it.
