Shock absorbers

There are no shock absorbers on my Mountaineer. Can they be put on, has anyone had this done?? What was the cost roughly? I`d like to do it myself, is it worth it or should I bring it to a qualified mechanic with full warranty??!! I seem to get alot of whip action, not much side to side motion but good bounce. I would assume I`d get a better ride out of the unit and less bouncing of stuff in the cupboards. Mark

When we bought a new 1999 Jayco Eagle I had shock absorbers installed because I was towing a bassboat behind it and wanted that stability. The installation included welding on some plates to mount the shocks but you possibly could drill the frame and bolt them on. If I recall, it was around $175 in 1999 dollars, labor and parts. I got them at an RV dealer as an add-on kit.

Laryy & LaVonne, yes I felt it definitely helped. Even without the boat behind the trailer (such as on our out of state vacations) I felt the trailer bounced less than without the shocks.
