Suburban water heater

The electric portion of our heater stopped working so I switched to propane. The propane ignited and warmed the water but it was not hot. Eventually the water heater started dripping water out of the relief valve which leads me to believe it overheated.
We have shut everything down waiting for an rv tech.

I would have used my multimeter to TS the 120 side of the WH not working,. The drip is most likely caused by no air pocket in the WH and this could easily be established..

Educate yourself about the importance of having an air pocket .

One can also learn some basic electrical skill sets on how to use a multimeter and how to troubleshoot simple AC circuits, etc so that your aren’t stuck waiting for an over priced RV Tech

We full time and long ago stopped messing with air pocket in the water heater. As far as the electric not working, did you press the reset buttons to see if that solved the problem? If that doesn't work, is the 120 volt breaker tripped? There may be a relay that has failed, but that involves removing the water heater to fix that. The electric element could have also failed, but the volt meter is needed for that. The gas mode is at least working if the water got hot enough to expand to push water out of the pressure relief valve, but possibly the thermostat on the gas side has weakened, needing replacement. Good luck getting hot water working again.

Does anyone know how to access the rear of the hot water heater. Looking for an access panel.

No way to guess if we don't know what secret rig you have. I can access our water heater from the pass through compartment.

Your Access panel isn't external?

c214dick has a 3582RL…maybe 2014 or 2015 (found this info from an old post) - just guessing because the 2016 brochure does not list that model.

Looking at the screen shot from a sales video - the water heater is located to the right of the convenience center and the back side can probably be accessed by removing the basement bulkhead wall.

The only thing on the side of the Water Heater is the "main" Electrical connection. That's not necessarily the likely problem, but that said my neutral wire in that box was apparently loose and the WH quit working so I just grounded the Electric Element to the Water Heater Frame. That worked for several years until a fire started in that side box. All that was left on the neutral/white wire was the wire coil that had been in the loose wire nut. Then I rebuilt the whole thing and added a new 20 Amp wall switch to replace the cheap rocker switch on the WH (which had to be replaced once before) and eliminated the OEM side box.
Its NOT complicated
Good Luck!
