Congrats on getting a replacement unit! Personally believe you did the right thing. Even if the dealer was to fix the previous unit 100%, there would indeed be than uneasy feeling in the back of you mind every time you hooked up to tow. Hope your replacement fully meets and exceeds you expectations and you have many happy and enjoyable years ahead. Stay safe and happy camping.

Congrates on the new unit! Be sure to do a full blown PDI *BEFORE* you sign the paper work. There are several good PDI documents saved here on the MOC that oyu can use.

Absolutely not would I accept this..........unless they discounted it many thousands of dollars, and still I would be leary. If they are a good dealership, they should make this right and get you a brand new undamaged rig to take the place of the one THEY damaged.

Thank you, question…how do I find those PDI documents on MOC? I did a search but couldn’t find them.

Thanks!

Here is the one on the MOC I was thinking of. Post #3 has the PDI list

https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...ad.php?t=72800

It looks like the PDI link posted by steiny93 is the same list and someone took the time to nicely format it. I think it will be added the File Section for future reference.

Guaranteed those repaired areas will reappear. You paid full price for an undamaged camper. I’d start over and look for another camper.

Basically the Cap was damaged on the drivers side due to a stress fracture on their hitch causing the locking pin to come undone.

They have it in the body shop to get holes, dents and dings fixed but I question if we should even accept delivery of a, now damaged, unit. What should I be looking for as other damage from dropping the Cap on a fifth wheel? They said they didn’t see any structural damage; however, the unit is closed up so not sure if they really checked anything inside. Should I even take delivery of a damaged unit now or make them get me a new, undamaged unit?

Perplexed and disappointed….

Thanks for any replies.

RUN!!!

If the frame is damaged or weakened you could be killed in the ensuing wreck. There is no way a dealer can guarantee the rig is 'as new' after that kind of an incident. Better to wait and be safe.

Trouble?

Waiting 10 weeks for another rig is far better than any hidden damage that you will have to deal with on your own dime down the road.
Pass on this unit and get a new one with a different serial number. At this point the unit is used and has been involved in an accident. If you take it, you should get a substantial ($5000) discount on the price to cover any future repair work that is out of pocket.

Congrats on getting the new, undamaged rig with no hassle! Hopefully it is just like you wanted. Be sure and go through that PDI with them as was suggested. The best and easiest way to get any issues fixed is BEFORE you sign the dotted line and drive off. Once they have your money you become an afterthought.

You made a major purchase. It probably also traveled in interstate commerce on its way to you too.
Since you've spent so much on the purchase, it's time to buy an hour or two's worth of time for your RV investment and consult an attorney familiar with & practices business law.

The law on this is the Uniform Commercial Code. Every state has its version of the UCC. Delivery & acceptance of damaged goods such as your 5th wheel are protected by your state 's Uniform Commercial Code & it specifies what your RIGHTS are with delivery & acceptance of damaged goods.

A letter from an attorney to the "Delivery team" & the dealership as to performance & the condition of goods (the 5th wheel) you bought will get their attention fast.
Just make sure your choice of lawyer is very knowledgeable in your state's UCC. Again, it's someone who practiced business law.

According to post #20 from the OP, they are getting a new replacement 3931FB. Sounded to me like there wasn't any need to pay for a lawyer....

I'm happy to hear your dealership did the right thing and replaced with a brand new undamaged unit. Now your RV journey can start off on a positive note.
