Cable Slide Adjustment

2019 Montana High Country 331RL

In the past when I have looked over the top of the kitchen slide when it is fully in, the cables have always been evenly tight. (no slack) In the open position or even partially open slide the cables seem to stay about the same with no slack.

Today I was running it in and it just sounded different. Today when I looked over the top and it is in the fully retracted position, one of the out drive cables has a lot of slack in it. Never noticed that before. Moving the slide out they all tighten up but when it's in, the one cable has about 1" of drop in slack.

Is it a simple matter of tightening one cable to a snug position?

I would look at the manufacturer’s web site to see the proper adjustment for these cables. They shouldn’t always be tight. When you pull the slide in the pulling cables should be tight but the cables that pull it out should have some slack. You don’t wont all the cables always tight that puts a lot of stress on the gear housing the cables and the side of your camper.

After further inspection, the trolley nut has worked loose and one cable nut has loosened causing the issue. I will snug them back up and am sure it will fix the issue.

Nice find. Paying attention to the mechanisms probably saved you a real headache later on.
