Step upgrade

Hi all,
I have a 2016 High Country 305rl and want to upgrade from the rusty folding quad step to the Lippert solid step. Has anybody done this and what size solid step do I need to order, the 26 or the 30” quad step?
Thanks,
Ed Phillips

Have a look at GlowStep.

Another Glowstep recommendation here. Far superior to the Lippert solid steps.

Definitely pros and cons to that type of step. They are great for stability but can be limiting in a tight parking situation, which might prevent you from getting into your rig. Ours came with the aluminum folding steps (no rust) and I built my own stabilizers for them so we have the best of both worlds.

Yep, we did it to our 343RL in 2017 and love the 50% wider top step vs the MORryde with the same size as the other three.

You will need to measure both the floor height as well as the entry door width. Ours are 4 step, and physically measure a bit less then 27" total width across the side stringers. I would guess that would be a 26" step version.

The LCI site has(had?) the correct way to measure.

You might also consider one of these. That's all we have and it's perfect for our needs: https://www.strombergcarlson.com/pro...ment-hardware/ Ours came from AMAZON but the price varies, depending on the day, etc.

Easy 20 minute install though I would recommend longer screws then what is supplied. Also be aware that some have had to modify the screen door bottom or reset the hinges. I didn't have to, but ya never know. I also added some strengthening to the door entrance flange along with a pieces of rubber at the latches to stop rattling.

Yesterday I installed morryde stp54-010h clip on solid steps. Didn't want the pull down ones because they couldn't deploy where we store our rig...parked too close to neighbor. Thought about the Glowstep, but they were $300 more.

Kept the original steps in place to be used in tight parking spots. Will store new steps wrapped in furniture blanket on floor.

Here's a picture. You don't need to modify door. Also added new handrail.

I think I saw somewhere that Moryde has a bigger step on the top now, it’s on there newer model.

Thanks all for your suggestions and comments. I’m now considering the glowstep uprising. The cost is way up there, but, will take care of all the perceived problems at different sites and storage. Any negatives on these steps?

We made our own Quick Disconnect steps, by modifying our MORryde Step Above, drilling out the rivets’ and installing hitch pins. We could do this because our OEM steps are still there and we use them for traveling because we've been in places where the pull-down steps wouldn't have worked.

I would second Daryles post about the Torklift uprising steps...I just purchased a 2021 HC 331rl and took the Moryde step out and went with the Torklift. Very happy, but if you do want something like the Lippert solid step, I have a brand new Moryde for sale..just saying

PilotEd,

The Uprising Glowsteps mounts inside the door.
The Revolution Glowsteps will mount in the brackets under the door, replacing the original steps.
We had the ones under the door and loved them on our 2015 3611RL

Make sure your sill plate is removable or else the lippert or morydes are very difficult to install.

No, that is not correct. They install right over the top of that sill. You nay need to adjust the screen door hinges or trim the bottom of that screen. Otherwise, it takes longer to round up tools then to install either brand.

Very interested in your comment. Are you saying you can still fold your steps in for traveling but have the ability to disconnect and put the steps in place when there is not enough room to swing down? We are unable to swing our steps down when the trailer is parked under its carport at home but have to swing them down first and very slowly back in

I made these that just sit under the steps. They can be slid up or down to make good contact to the ground. I welded a tab to the step so the wing nuts could be used to secure it. It just takes a minute to set up when we arrive at a new park.

I can send more details if you're interested. Just shoot me a PM.
