Changed to an Aluminum rod once and it created a terrible smell. Went back to Magnesium and the smell disappeared. Maybe it has to do with the water one is using and how it reacts with the metals.

thats what I'm thinking, putting in a magnesium rod, I was at a unfamiliar campground about 3 weeks ago, right after i put the alum/zinc rod in.

Hot Water Smell

Had smell on previous coach, tried everything then changed electric heating element. Fixed issue. Think prior owned did not bypass water heated and put RV anti freeze on electric heating element. Good Luck & Safe Travels
