Angry Exterior Shower Hose Not Connecting

I got ready to use the outside shower connection the other day and the hose would not connect. This is driving me nuts! I've used the outdoor hose several times with no problem but now it just won't connect. I know I have to push the outside of the connection back, insert the end of the hose, and then let the outside 'ring' slide back forward to lock in the hose, but the hose simply won't lock in. Ugh! Anybody got any ideas before I start tearing into it? Thanks for any suggestions!

Try releasing the pressure

Have you tried to release any pressure on that connection. On mine there is a check valve in that connection and if there is pressure behind it, usually caused by turning on the faucet with no hose connected, it can be a bear to engage. if you turn off all water going to the rig and make sure the pump is off then turn on the cold low point valve on to drop any pressure making sure the faucet at the shower has the cold handle on, it should release any pressure behind the check valve, and might just do the trick.

Good Luck !

Oh wait! I had forgotten to open the cold water...it still didn’t work at first, but then I used a flat screwdriver to push back on the center of the connection (in the center where the hose goes) and it broke free and the water pressure behind it released (and I got wet), but it worked! Working fine now and hose goes on and off like it should! Thanks again for your help!

Quick connect hose

I spray the male connector and the quick connector periodically with silicone dry lube I connect the hose to black water rinse but disconnect when not in use
