www.hitch-buddy.com

I saw this hitch buddy in a trader add. I'm looking for a tow solution and saw this possibility using a truck or a SUV as a tow vehicle. The price tag is 6000 but it would adapt to any vehicle. I'm looking for the pros and cons. Thanks

Daryl & Carol, do you have a link to that or could you describe it? I'm not sure what it is you're talking about. Sorry to be so dense.

Thanks for the link. That's a cool idea. What I don't know is how much hitchweight it would have and how many non-pickups out there could handle that much weight, at least with a Montana. Maybe I didn't read far enough into the website.

Also, I wonder how it handles in the wind.

Interesting idea, though.

Looks cool, I wonder how much she is. Steve according to Web site they offer a 5k and 6K model. 5K has ,3500 pin weight capacity and ^k has 4,500 pin weight capacity. 5k tows up to 18K and 6k model up to 23K. Looks cool, I wonder how it backs and also how wind would effect it, essentially you convert 5th whee towing into conventional tag along towing. Or at least to me that's the way it looks on the video.

My initial impression is "No way in H*** am I going to risk my carcass with that thing!"

Have fun backing it into a campsite

I saw a large 5th wheel being towed using one of these last summer, the tow vehicle was a Chevy Suburban. It was going the opposite way than I was, but it sure turned my head.

Can a SUV tow a Montana? I can see some smaller units but is there one that could tow big 5ers.

I think you can get the Suburbans (or whatever they're called nowadays) and the Excursions with enough tow rating. Maybe.
