recliner - couch swap

I saw some people wanted to swap couch and chairs, but the couch is too deep to allow the slides to come in. It looks like (in floor plans) that most newer couches are the full depth of the slide and about the same as the kitchen table. But older ones seem a bit smaller. Can you tell me if you were able to swap the chairs and couch and if so, what model Montana do you have and year.
I see a lot of RL Monties with the entertainment on the side, but would like the chairs on the other side. Hence the swap info needed.
Thanks in advance

We also have a 2980 but a 2004 and we moved out kitchen table to the end where the recliners were and then moved the couch to where the kitchen table and chairs were. We removed one of the recliners and put the remaining where the sofa was. We then put a lamp table/bookrack between the sofa and the recliner. We did get a different kitchen table because we got tired of knocking our knees on that center board between the support legs on the table. We have removed two of the dining chairs and also put in a small storage cabinet to extend the storage of grocery supplies. We've made quite a few mod to the unit and if interested let me know and I can describe them but don't at the present have photos.

We are in the process of ordering a Mountaineer 331 and also getting the Home Theatre seating. We asked a few dealers, who checked with the factory rep, if we could put the couch on the back and HT across from the TV and were assured that we could.

We swapped ours in our 3455sa 2010. I had to move bottom curtain brackets to accommodate couch. Measure depth of couch and depth of space.

Yes, my DW has done it. I came back from cutting a load of wood to find the furniture switched around. She does this to me at home frequently. The look on her face told me she was quite pleased with herself. The end table doesn't fit between the chairs when she switches, so it becomes a "sofa" table. The slides still come in ok with he couch in the rear.

We did it, but have to lie the sofa on it's back in order to retract the slides.

We swapped the couch and recliners and and it works great for us. I just need to push the couch tight against the back window before putting slide in. We have a 2009 3400 Anniversary Edition.

I did it in mine as well. It was a 2004 3400RL. Just flipped the sofa cushions up to clear the slides, not because I had to, more as an extra caution move.

We have had a 2012 3402 RL for a full 2 years. Have always had the couch in the back where the big window is! Not had a problem with clearances for the 2 years we have had it!!!

And clearance is very sufficient on both sides.

Didn't fit for us. Sofa is too deep to close the slides and two recliners + the end table take up too much room to be able to turn the dining table sideways like we like it. -- 2009 3465SA

Our entertainment system is on the driver's side. Our 5th has the couch on the opposite side of it (we don't like that set up - prefer the recliners). The couch will not fit in the rear because the slides won't close. Next point: The darn recliners will only stay fully reclined or fully closed. You have to have a "gorilla grip" on the armrests for ANY other position. Yeah, that may be OK for an action film on the TV, but my arms get tired. So what we did is move the recliners in the house, moved in the one I like from the living room and put 4 heavy-duty caster wheels on the bottom of the couch. If we stop for more than a day, I switch things around so the recliner is across from the entertainment center.
