Slide awnings opening during travel
Has anyone had this happen, going down the road and slide awning billows. I have had it happen three times. but only on one of the three awnings installed. We have a 3100RL, the awning on the kitchen/couch is the largest and the slide giving problems. Was told by a repair Tech, that the top of the slide is moving a very small amount, but enough to let the lock release on the awning. His fix was to place a 2/2 between inside wall and back of trim when slide was in and ready for travel. However on the 3100RL there is not enough room to get past the counter, when slides are pulled in.
Any thoughts, suggestions?

I bought this awning lock and installed it after losing an awning in New Mexico on my old travel trailer in 40 MPH cross-winds.
(On edit: If I could read, I would have seen the slide awning mentioned, I was posting about the main awning... Duh...)

Chuck,
Sounds like you need to get the slide problem fixed so the gust lock will function properly. I would not make a habit of placing anything between the slide and the trim. A can of coke lodged between the slide and trim panel will cause the trim panel to pop off when the slide is opened, stuff happens, trim panels are not made to be stoppers. IMHO

Chuck do you think your slide was moving and was it enugh to release the lock on the awning slide. I'm sorry but I cant buy that excuse the rv shop was selling you. I have been going doen the hwy and seen these toppers open up with a good side wind, maybe if they put more tention on the topper spring it might solve the problem.

You can increase the tention of the main awning spring I am thinking you can do the same on the slide toppers
