Census

Hmmm, we got a letter saying we would be getting a census survey here at the RV park. Anybody else get one? We still maintain our residence back in East TX, and I planned to just have the son add us too their census, as he lives in our house there. We still have all the utilities and taxes and such in our name. I know there are penalties for not complying with the Census. Suppose I need to call them? I just figured some of y'all had been through this.

Just curious. Was it a generic letter? Or addressed specifically to you?

We also got one here in Florida. It was addressed to Resident. IMO it is a ploy by Florida to get more Federal Money by counting snowbirds as residents. We will do our census at our home residence.

Generic. I think I'm with you on that one Rich, I just don't want to be donating to the government coffer. The fine, IIRC, is $100 for not filling the census out, $500 for false info.

We found out that New York State is requesting all snowbirds to use their home address, where they live most of the year as their address for the census. This insures that the community, county and state you are from get to count you. They also said, if you do fill one out at another address, you cannot fill one out at your home address. You can only be counted once.

By law every person has to be counted. That includes the homeless, travelers, everyone. Census takers will be out hunting everyone down for a count..as it should be. The census form will come to your permanent address if you have one.

You want to be counted in the state that's your domicile. Don't allow another state to get credit for you.

Steve, haven't received ours yet through our Escapees Mail Service. However, others of our friends haven't received theirs either.
