How to find a stud
I am trying to mount a flat screen tv on the wall (I settled on a 32") and I can't seem to find a stud. How do you find a stud to bolt the mounting bracket to? Will a regular stud finder work? I have a model 3575RL and have taken out the cabinets over the desk to put the tv there.

The safest way to find studs is to look at the exterior on a damp, dewy morning. You can see the stud location and also where the headers are over the slides. A stud sensor will work, but you can get false reading from the trim tape covering the joints on the interior paneling. If you think you have located a stud, drive a small brad in to be sure. The brad will make a very small hole which can be filled if necessary.

Remember those studs are hollow aluminum rectangles so mounting to them will require an anchor that will work with those type studs.

When Al (and John B - - THANK YOU!!)installed the 12 foot shelf in our Tana over the slide, Al used a stud finder, and a LOT of small brads to "test" with.
IIFC, the stud finder did a pretty good job, and the small brad holes were all covered by installation.
Good luck on your install!!

Got it installed. Only had to move the bracket once. The stud find I purchased to help find the stud also has a hot wire finder on it. It even seems to work. I tested it around some outlets and it would actually track the wire. Kinda cool. I am waiting to see if I can purchase a matching cabinet from keystone to finish the project. I will try to post some pics when it is done. Looks great so far.

Just thinking out loud ... the aluminum wall studs are extremely thin-walled ... hopefully you used an anchor type that pops open or expands on the back side after going through the drilled hole. If you just screwed into the stud with sheetmetal screws ... you're not holding onto much.
