Hair coloring and grey tank?

I told my wife that she should continue to have her hair colored at a salon because I think that this is one of the perks of being where we are in our life. However, she wants to color her own hair. What's my concern? The grey tank.

Any comments?

As long as you redesignate the GREY tank to the BLONDE, BRUNETTE, ETC. tank, I would think you would be fine. Sorry for the humor, but seriously I would be concerned with the chemical effects on the seals mainly, might take some research on interactions.

bncinwv, You cracked me up!!! That was a good one (redesignate the GREY tank to the BLONDE, BRUNETTE, ETC.).

snfexpress, I would think your gray tank tank would be OK if you just flush the tank right after your beautiful wife was done coloring her hair, and you didn't leave the chemicals sitting in the tank too long.

Michael, I think they would be so diluted in the tank, as well as the plastic being impervious to the chemicals, you should be fine.

Never even gave it a thought and I've been doing it for years. Our previous 5er was 8 or so years old when we traded and all tanks were fine. One of the main ingredients in hair color is peroxide (stronger than you use on wounds) and that sure is not going to hurt anything. I think Jim is correct that it would be very diluted anyway. We have traveled a lot in the past 15 years and I've gone to salons in strange towns and had some not so good experiences so I prefer to do my own. One time a park manager recommended her beautician. This woman had bright orange hair! I passed.
Happy trails.........................

You guys crack me up!

Sue - that is why Kathy wants to do her own. Having had the same stylist for the past umpteen years, she is wary of hit and miss on the road.

Wife and I both use hair color. Buy it at a beauty supply store. We rinse out in the Mountaineer shower. We have been doing this for years. Stuff in the hair color is no more potent than the chemicals you put in your tanks to make them smell good. It will not damage those wimpy seals. Color makes us look young.

My gray water tanks are getting greyer everyday. So does this mean I can call them white water tanks in a few more years?

Tom,

Obviously if your grey tank is getting greyer, it needs coloring!

It makes me wonder that if you are worrying about changing the color of the gray tank from the chemicals used in the coloring, what the heck is it doing to your scalp/head/brains !!!!!

snf there should be no interactions with the tank or the seals. Anything that is suitable for use on human skin will not interact with the type of seal material they use in the tanks.
