Bill,
That sounds like some good news to me. I am hoping that I will not have to change anything about the way I fuel, or what I fuel with. Thanks for posting that article.

Just noted today the ulsd sign where we fuel the school bus.Was not there Friday when I fueled but was there this afternoon when fueling for a charter school bus trip in the AM. All other prices were the same but the diesel was 12 cents higher that when I fueled Friday morning..Higer operating cost for the Rv'er..have not seen the E-85 yet but we are told it will also be higher duer to supply and demand problems..

Thanks Bill for posting that info on ULSD. We live a few miles from an ESSO (EXXON in US) refinery and I know that they have had a major construction project going on for the past year to build an ULSD refinery. (Often see Flying J trucks in there, so we know where they are getting their fuel in this area including, I believe, the Batavia, NY site).

I bought some PRI-D is for Diesels because of the reccomendations here. Is it my imagination or does it give a bit more pep to my diesel?

I have noticed the Diesel warning signs on every pump I've visited here in Florida in the last month or so. Same story - "don't use this fuel in 2007 model diesels - damage to engine, etc."
The BIG question - how will this affect Diesel sales in the US? Fueling will become a problem - like in the bad old days. Folks trying to get off gasoline and on to diesel will have nothing but headaches!
I just read that over 54% of Audi German sales are Diesel and they are 64% if the total in France.
More food for thought - Diesel can be easily made from Coal - we have a 300 year supply right here in the US - and with E-85 a real possiblility - WHY do we have an oil problem?

My personal experience with ULSD.
4th Tank (06 F350 Crew PSD, Mountianeer 342PHT)
Mileage remains consistent at @13.5MPG (over 1100 miles), which is slightly better than LSD at 12-12.5MPG over the previous few months towing.*
Price in the North East seems unchanged ($2.79 NJ - $2.89-2.99 most everwhere else) from LSD price.
Performance appears the same.
Black Smoke appears less than with LSD.
NOTE: Two key difference is in my limited experiences, (a) the ULSD trials have been done in June with Average Temps in the 80s vs. previous mileage figures earlier this year (April-May) in the 50s-70s). (b) Truck ODA April-May 5K-10K, June 11-14K. So improved Mileage #s may be attributed more the the warmer weather and futher break-in of the engine that the ULSD vs LDS fuel.

I have been using the ULSD in the school bus since June 1st.I put in @ 30 gals every other day for my normal run Plus field trips/summer camp.I use @ 200/250 gal of Diesel a month on average,, As I noted before I see 10% decrease in MPG for the month of June thus far. It does burn cleaner.

We don't have an oil problem for goodness sakes, we have oil companies that wants more profits, and we have environmental wackos that don't want us drilling any more holes as to might upset the mating habits of the titzu fly in africa or something like that.

Just remember how many $billions$ of dollars the oil companies are having to spend to "update" or "build new" plants to produce the new ULSD. This one is not on the oil companies in terms of profits, its all on the EPA.

It's kinda funny. My son who works at the local Chevy dealership says that the 07 Silverados have added another 30 hp to their motors and are much quiter that the previous ones. With the new fuel I am wondering what will happen to the 30 hp in the 07's ?

Montana Sky I have to agree with you about the EPA thing. However that has nothing to do with Gasoline prices. I think it might be interesting to someone would research and identify major stock holders of BP aka British petroleum and some of the other major oil companies of who exactly is the money going to and who is responsible for building the additional refineries we need.

Phill,
I am one of those stock holders in ExxonMobil as well as BP. =) The refineries are being modified to meet the new EPA regs for gas and diesel. The future will sure be interesting...
