California Diesel Prices

We went to get our rig out of storage last night in preparation for our coming weekender. Had to fill the truck. I'm still reeling from the shock . . . . paid $3.19 per gallon for diesel in the Los Angeles Harbor Area!! And to add insult to injury (literally!), the Chevron station pumps automatically stop at $60.00, which is obviously less than 20 gallons. So I had to stop and re-start all over again. $76 for 23+ gallons. OUCH!

Well we have not yet hit $3 but holding at $2.99 because no one wants to be the first to change. I am sure it will happen by the weekend. We have a 40-gallon tank so you can imagine when they stop at $50 we have always had to put the card in twice. The west coast has had the highest prices for years, and some areas are worse than others. Our section of Oregon (southern) has the highest prices in the state. We believe it is the "California connection" because we are right at the border. For those traveling I-5, the lowest diesel price listed in Oregon is at the 7 Feathers truck stop in Canyonville. Considering we have the highest home prices in the state and the lowest wages, this added increase in fuel is causing a hardship.

You folks should consider moving to Texas. Two days ago near San Antonio, the price for diesel was $2.27.
Unfortunately, relief may not be in sight.
Have a good day, Weldon

Toolmanroy is right about fuel prices in Oregon and CA especially along the border. 7 Feathers is one of the cheapest fuel stops in our area but do not get taken by the "puc" price grabber. They flash a lower price on the markee' than at the pump and if you don't read the small print "puc" you will get a surprise. The "puc" rate is commercial trucking rates and the general public rate is usually 5 to 10 cents higher. The "puc" advertising is pretty common in Oregon. 7 Feathers is still the best price for general public rates.

Prices in Tenn. are comparable to the Texas prices Weldon was talking about. Never thought I'd be gratefull to pay 2.25 gal for diesel. 3.19 would be tough Bill, biodiesel is looking better every day

$3.03 in San Marcos, CA as of 4:28pm on 8/9/05. Unfortunately, the increased cost of diesel affects everything from "soup to nuts"---truckers, loggers, farmers and everybody who runs any diesel-powered equipment has to pass-on these costs to we, the end-users. In So. Cal, bio-diesel is, if you can find it, more expensive than "regular diesel".

WHEW!! That makes $2.69 in upstate NY almost look like a bargain. And I was having heartburn over our prices!

You know, no matter the light in which you look at it, the oil companies are majorly gouging us. Marsha and I were talking yesterday as Georgia teachers are receiving a 2% raise in September. That does nothing to make a dent in the 100% increase in diesel and gasoline prices.

Still, the prices you guys on the west coast are quoting make the 2.259 I paid in Winder yesterday look very good, which is an extremely sad commentary...
