Mor-Ryde Rubber Pin Box

This question may seem far outdated to some of you but could you give me your opinion on the Mor-Ryde pin box. I have had the TrailAir and it works well with the up-down motion of the kingpin. I am looking at reduced the chucking that the TrailAir does NOT seem to address. I'm looking at Tweety's for a Mor-Ryde pin box. Thank you for your input.

I swear by mine!! Have had times that I was sure the bucking wouldn't stop, only to get through it in 1 or 2 bucks. Looking at the pads, they provide significant benefit.

We are really pleased with ours as well....just travel the grapevine in California north bound. That highway is so bad, I expected to find chaos in the trailer once we pulled off the freeway. Everything was as it should be. Considering that was our second outing with our Montana, we were very pleased. We traveled 9100 miles in 4 months throughout CA,OR,WA,ID,WY,UT There were times one would almost forget we were towing the trailer.

The Mor Ryde works well for the chucking, not so much for the up and down. The trail are works well for the up and down, not so much for the chucking. To me the chucking was what we wanted to address. The Mor Ryde has about a 2/12 back and forth movement to damped chucking.

We would agree with Rich. Ours came with a Moryde pinbox and we've not had any reason to want to look at something else.

After years of debating I finally added it to our rig. Got it from Tweetys for $200 less than what Moryde offered it at the fall rally. I did have to install it myself which took two of us less than an hour. Best addition I have made to the rig. The ride is so much improved. Jim

Love our's on the new 2014 Big Sky. We were thinking about getting one on the 2007 3400RL but traded it in instead. Sure do notice a difference with it.

Can't imagine that you wouldn't be satisfied with the Mor/Ryde addition. Like others have stated we also noticed the improvement and now would not be without one.

When I look in my rearview mirror and see the pinbox flexing back and forth, and not feel anything in the truck, I figure that alone is worth the price of admission. I read about these pinboxes on different forums and when the time came to buy a fifth wheel, I made the Mor/Ryde a priority. I have no experience without this pinbox, but I think I'd like to keep it that way.

Only one we have experienced, outside of the standard, but does make a wonderful difference.

I have only expierenced the more ryde pin, but when I look at the amount of movement back and forth left by the blocks on the inside bottom of the pin plate (hope that makes sense) AND the absense of chucking when towing, I am real happy not to feel all that movement. John

Something not mentioned is the firmness of the rubber block in the Mor/Ryde pin assy.

My rig has the medium length pin box and is rated @ 19,000lbs. The rubber block had a #5 molded in the side of it. At time of delivery, since I was in Elkhart, I took the pin assy apart and changed it out to a #4 rubber block.

There are (I believe) 4 different "firmness's" of rubber blocks. A 3,4,5 and 6. On the link provided you will see the last number of the pin assy changes with the weight of the application. A #4 is rated for 11,501 to 14,000 so I am on the soft side. Keystone is ordering them for the GVWR of the trailer based on Mor/Ryde's thoughts.

My Trailer GVWR is 14,900 lbs so the #5 would be correct, but to me is too stiff. I like my #4 block.

When we got our Montana, I also ordered a Reese R20. The R20 combined with the Mor-Ryde Pin and suspension.... a super smooth ride! Another feature of the R20 I like is that all I need to do is pull the handle back, back the hitch into the pin and the handle closes and the jaws lock in place. Additionally there is an indicator on the front of the hitch (tattle-tail) that indicates your pin is seated into the hitch. Here are the details on the Reese R20. I am very happy with both products!

•20,000 lbs. gross / 5,000 lbs. pin weight capacities
•Optional slider available for additional turning clearance
•NEW CONTOURED HANDLE
- Customized grip includes universal control instructions
- New control handle eliminates separate latch and high visibility for system lock and load
•PREMIUM REESE ARCH
- Pin mounting holes better align with current rail kits, reducing looseness
- SAE J2638 COMPLIANT
- Based on heavy duty, accelerated life cycle criteria developed by SAE for fifth wheels
- Fatigue and static tested to pass 900,000 cycles
•SIDEWINDER COMPATIBLE
- Premium choice for short bed trucks
•NEW CAST HEAD
- Commercial durability and strength
- Improved head funneling for king pin to latch
- Patent pending king pin indicator is highly visible
•NEW CAST JAW SYSTEM
- Double jaw mechanism, heavier for longer wear, improved tolerances, eliminating chucking in jaw system
- Improved life and wear with added grease points
•NEW CAST PIVOT BEAM
- Incorporates a vibration isolator system for vertical and longitudinal vibration dampening and improved ride
- Wider mounting for better stability and reduced wear
- Easier assembly of cast pivot beam to cross member
- Vertical height adjustment from 14” to 18”
- Head and pivot beam can be offset 1” front or rear to maximize performance
- Requires rails & installation kit (sold separately)
•Additional dampening located in crossbar to improve towing when going over pot holes and rough terrain
•Limited lifetime warranty

Our first fifth wheel was a Cougar and after our checkout trip we put one on due to all the bucking and chucking especially over bridges and expansion joints on overpasses. We had one installed on our High Country 343RL before we brought her home. Added air bags this spring and had to look in the rear view mirror several times to make sure 5er was still attached! For us it makes a huge difference. Level and smooth and my gas mileage was a tad better. We also seemed less tired after a 5 1/2 hour trip. Less stress maybe? Wouldn't be without either improvement now.

Ooops!
My same setup exactly. We are happy with it as well.
