AC Problems

Just a few thoughts. How is the airflow from the vents and can you feel a suction on the return? Have you checked under the AC cover to confirm it's clean and clear of derbis? Is this a new issue, or has it been this way from the start?

I had a SOB with the same problem. The fix was to increase return air flow. Using what I learned back in 2001 I looked at my '14 return air.

On my '14 3150RL the rear A/C return ducts are 2 small areas on the edge of the ceiling. Remove grills, duct is a foam type of material.

I used (this is from memory) 1 1/2" plastic conduit, cut 6" long. Made 4 pieces. I placed them in the return air ducts in the outer edges to prop the return open. Mine were almost sucked flat causing a restriction.

It will make sense once you pull the return grills off.

The return air filters, I bought window A/C replacement filters. You can get 4 pieces out of a sheet. About $2 @ Lowes. I use 2 pieces per grill for better filtering.

This seems to be a fairly common problem and has been discussed here in past posts.
Picture of my intake vents on this thread and what was done to improve but not "fix" the problem entirely. Cheap, poor construction and workmanship involved.

Make sure the AC drain is clear. If humidity is high run AC fan on high.

I'd take Larry's advice first. It sounds like a drain problem first and an air flow problem second. The air flow problem can be caused by ductwork like in the video or by ice forming on the fins due to low air flow and high humidity. In some parts of the country and/or in certain situations the AC fan must be set to run on high and, at times, be set to run all the time in order to keep the ice from forming.

Dick is correct. Where I live in Northern California the extreme dry heat causes Ice issues. We must run fan on high 24/7 or the units freeze up. Second RV with same issues. Had ice fall out of the air unit onto floor. Thought we sprang a leak!

To make a long story short. I called about a 10 RV dealers to see if they could and/or have repaired an AC problem like ours....from the top of this page our AC works on hot day, then the inside of ceiling sweats and I have water drops where the 15k is at. And we did, we had the same problem!!!!!!!!!!!! so we found a Keystone Dealer in Lexington, KY called Northside RV and they said that they could fix it and they did. It took 16 hours and the repair was done. Keystone only paid for 8 hours. To repair the AC return duct they had to take the inside ceiling panel down and make a return duct and reinstall the ceiling panel. And I'm telling you this was complex.
