booster or antenna

Can't get much on the TV and think either the booster has failed or maybe the antenna has something wrong in the head. The light still comes on when the booster is turned on, but I don't think the antenna is getting a signal.
Any ideas?
Don

I had a similar problem. Mine was a problem with the cheap coax ends on the cables. Winegard provided the following: http://www.winegard.com/kbase/upload/2452013.pdf Page 6 has some trouble shooting procedures.

Don,
Jim's advice about checking the coax is spot on. I have replaced most of the connectors with compression fitting ones.
Next I would guess the amplifier has failed. I have one here if you are near Klamath, Ca.

On our old coach we had a bad power supply. Light would come on, but wasn't sending 12V up to the antenna. As I remember, it's not a very expensive part. Good info from jimcol.

We also had a bad powerhead on the antenna on our prior Montana. It was under warranty and they just replaced the head. Easy switch.

At the risk of sounding condescending, I assume you have the tv set for antenna rather than cable and that the loop for satellite vs. antenna is set correctly. Sorry, but I've made some pretty dumb mistakes in my time so always want to mention the more obvious, just in case..

Like John I've also replaced a number of cheap connectors and cable ends.

Thanks to all for the reply. I think I will try the power supply first then work my way down the other items.
Thanks,
Don

I replaced the Winegard antenna with the "Jack" antenna head. Easy installation and increased channels from 8 to 24. Only "issue" if you will was the rear part of the forward mast on the antenna head end needed to be bent over just a hair as it would bind on the crank down.
