Goodyear Marathon Blow Out

Towing on I95 in Maine about 2 weeks ago and driver in next lane waving and point back to Monty. Pulled to emergency lane and looked to see China's latest howdy-do, how-do-u-do. So thanks to a good neighbor driver we stopped before damage to Monty. Narrow shoulder/emergency lane with heavy traffic, much to dangerous to fix tire, so drove very slowly on side to next exit #15 about 2 miles, then on st.hwy. shoulder going very slowly to a tire store that was open on Sunday. They mounted spare on alloy rim but did not have a similar tire to replace spare. The young and recently discharged from the Marines Owner said no charge. I said no, you are young and you must make money to stay in business, then paid him in cash. Got a similar sized tire for spare from another tire store down the road. Have appointment Tuesday to have four G614rst installed.

That's good news. A marathon blowout and it not getting a chance to cause collateral damage. Maybe it's a new design. They still blow but don't destroy the trailer. We had the G614's installed within two weeks of getting the Monty new and sold the Marathons on line.

Glad you're OK and your Monty made it through a traumatic Marabomb blowout. You did the right and decent thing by the Marine. He sounds like a standup guy as well.

Glad you are safe. That is the most important thing.

Now you need to have the other single tire on that side inspected by a qualified person. When the one tire went flat the other tire became very "overloaded" carrying all the weight for that side. This could damage the tire. Please have it checked, or do what I did when an inside dual blew on me. I replaced both tires. It is you life that is riding on those tires.

Happy trails.

Glad you made it though the blowout without damage. We were pretty fortunate as well when one of ours blew out in Aug with minimal damage to the fiver. We also replaced all four with G614's. Expensive, but worth the peace of mind.
