Landing gear fuse.... holder
My landing gear motor stopped working just before Christmas. And (could you believe it?) the manual crank handle turned up missing!
I tried several suggestions from Jim Osbern (thanks, Ozz!) including making an emergency handle from PVC pipe. But could not find the problem.
Plus, I had "disappearing" voltage! I'd measure voltage at the switch and would have it "sometimes."
I finally twisted the fuse a bit, and Zowie the motor started working! Somehow the fuse holder had loosened, as though someone stuck a screwdriver in there and widened the contacts (but it wasn't me!).
So a fuse socket repair (and a new circuit breaker replacement) is in the works, and I can hopefully get on the road for a bit. Let that be a lesson to me!
And I have a question. In the process of troubleshooting, I removed the motor switch. There was a foam filler/sealant of some kind that covered the back of the switch and the wiring, in the adjacent storage bin (with the propane tank in it). I'm assuming it was there to keep possible sparks from igniting propane gas. Maybe?
What's a good replacement for that stuff?
