Water Access Door
My Montana had a recent discussion with a tree and as a result, the water access door came off. Does anyone with an older Montana (without the convenience center) know how the door attaches? I don't know if there were pins on the end that it pivoted on or if there was a wire hinge. I figure I can take off the flange and fix something up, but was curious how it is supposed to attach.

The door on my unit has two pins from the frame into the door, one top and one from the bottom.

I went out just now and looked at mine. It appears that there is just a pin of some type of material (looks like it may be teflon, but could be aluminum) that is pushed up into the upper part of the hinge and a pin of the same type pushed down into the lower part. It seems to me that you could come up with some type of pin, even if you had to carve a piece of plastic, or maybe purchase a dowel of about the size that would insert into the hinge. You might use dowel material just slightly larger than the hinge and sand it down (or whittle) so that it fits. There isn't a lot of pressure on the hinges of that door so almost anything would fit. Another thought is that I've seen metal pins that come in various diameters that you might take a look at. When you finish, no matter what you do, no one will know the difference, unless the tree jumped out and did more damage than just the water access door. Those trees do seem to jump out into our way, don't they. Been there, done that, and bought the T-shirt.

Thanks, Orv and Cyrus -
That's what I thought. I might start with a piece of coat hanger as a hinge. I need to do a little tinkerin'.

There are stainless steel, or brass, rods at hardware stores.
